issue after upgrades and tune!?
My boost gauge is reading 25.5-26. I got the fuel pump from lancershop.com I'm getting with my tuner Saturday to go over the logs and everything together. At that point ill find out the boost/load cut. And get back to you all. As of right now I've done second third and fourth gear pulls getting the same issue at the exact rpm in every gear.
There is nothing wrong with .018 as a plug gap. I run it in every Evo I put plugs in from stock turbo to GT42R. Just made 918whp on the stock ECU, a non CDI ignition, and NGK BPR8ES plugs with that gap. There is also nothing wrong with 280 cams on a stock turbo. This is the problem with the internet, for every good response there are 10 others with misinformation.
There is such thing as too short of a gap. I wouldn't go lower than .022 with his setup. I still think 272 would have been a better match all around but hey if he just wants to drag race and rev the **** out of it to make power then I guess go for it lol
280 cams and stock Viii turbo and valve springs
also might want to look up the vendors here and pick a good reputable shop to take the car to. People on here can only help so much, personally I'd take it somewhere and pull the wallet out before you end up paying for a new motor and whatever else. Your mods list isn't adding up right and knock after a tune isn't a good thing.

My mods are just fine. You gotta realize I am just beginning this mods list and doing things slowly and safely. My tuner is reliable and very experienced. And I ask him before I do/buy any mods. I trust what he tells me and he would take full responsibility of something were to happen.
On to the matter at hand. I will be gaping the plugs back to .022. And will be meeting with him Saturday to reflash the tune and check everything from before and after. I am leaning toward fuel issue. But we will see. As far as taking it to a shop. I have a shop that I use and they have done every mod aside from little stuff that I did but they did my clutch and trans. Cams timing belt alignment injectors and fuel pump along with tuning it every time for every mod step by step.

The guy that said that has actually built fast Evos and not just read about them on the internet. The same guy speaks from real world experience instead of what he reads on the internet.

Your right, there is such thing as too short a plug gap and .018 is definetly not too small. This has been proven on the tons of Evos driving around with ZERO issues on that gap. 272's work well with a stock turbo as do some 280's. I know this since I have seen thousands of dyno pulls with stock turbo Evos that use both 272 and 280 cams. I don't speak from "internet" experience, I speak from actual real world experience. Seeing them on the dyno/track, swapping cams on the dyno and seeing the difference etc.
And I'm sure it may run at 0.018 but a higher gap would be more efficient with his setup. Most 280 cams are too aggressive for an 8 turbo, no mivec, and not a lot of supporting mods...
