934 awhp with the tires rubbing on E85 winter blend
934 awhp with the tires rubbing on E85 winter blend
This year has been hectic for me, and last month I finally got project EVO 2 2.0 finished. This included a refreshed short block and a cleaned up head. The last time I had the motor out of the car was 4 years ago, so I figured to have it freshened up after 4 years of 700 to 850 awhp abuse.
I had the pistons coated, installed a knife edged crank, A full valve job, had the Borg Warner S474 refreshed, and installed new Quarter Master clutch. I also had the header checked, a few small cracks repaired, and upgraded from an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump to an Aeromotive Pro pump.
I decided take the EVO to the dyno over at A Spec in Schaumburg, IL on winter blend E80 and see how it's running. On there Dyno Jet at base boost of 24 psi it put down 669 awhp, then at 40 psi it put down 934 awhp and 615 ft lbs of torque with the rear tires digging into the wheel wells. The tires actually turned purple on the edges and the dyno room looked like I did a burnout.
You can see when the power starts getting erratic is when the tires dug in. I didn't have the time to raise the rear suspension because there was another customer scheduled to use it.
I'll be taking it back to the dyno sometime after the holidays next month to get a clean reading. It looks like 950 awhp and 640 ft lbs should be easy to hit at the same boost without the tires holding the car back. I'm pretty much out of injector with the 1680's and the Kenny Bell 40 amp boost-a-pump, but I'll try raising the fuel pressure so I can get into the 1000 awhp club.
