Erik's 349whp 9.8cm LR2.4

Erik brought us this brand new LR2.4 to tune yesterday and see what we could do. We had a few things to sort out first, put some break in miles on the motor, and then get to work.

Mods as far as I know-

Buschur supplied LR2.4 internals
Ported head with +1mm valves
3" TBE with a Magnaflow muffler
HKS 264s
Injen intercooler piping
Stock 2003 9.8cm turbo
Stock Intercooler
Stock O2 housing
Stock Intake manifold
Turbosmart E-Boost2

A little work on the dyno, a few small issues, and we ended up with 349/373 -

I am sure the wait will be worth it as this should have no issues getting up and moving.

That is definitely an odd combination of parts

What turbo and fuel is he planning on running after the engine break-in?

Must be a really fun car to drive around with a torque curve like that!

I was cutting it at 7700 since it was WAY out of breath. Really this needs to be shifted around 6500-6750.

For sure. A Green and this combo would be like what Luke road races with, 400whp at low boost with 400 ft lbs coming in around 3600.

I had a similar tq monster 2.4 with a stock DSM turbo in my Talon. That thing drove like a mustang. Instant boost and tq but the top end was dead. The Turbo could only maintain about 12psi at 6k. The car ran a 12.6 like that. The tune was super rich too because I didn't realize how low the boost was dropping at first. I had a 16psi wastegate spring on my t3 setup and had it running rich and retarded timing in the spool area and it was falling in there and killing power. I may just put an EVO3 16g on just for fun and see how it runs. If it mimics this that will be a fun ride. I was guessing 320whp and 400tq and an additional 30 or so whp plus a better tune would be a fun street car.

I dont care for the Eboost. Lots of complication for something that is no different than an AEM Tru boost.

Seeing more and more of these stroker builds with small/stock turbos makes me wonder how people are blowing up their original blocks before they put in a stroker?
