Barton's 355whp stock cam IX MR
Barton is an adventurer.
It would seem like I am making up some of the stuff this guy does but things like riding a Husaberg dirtbike up a south american mountain and then deciding to ride all the way back to Montana on the same bike is the norm. Exploring Mongolia, check. Park Ranger, check. Design and build the most energy efficient house in Montana, check. Fish with Aaron....later this year but check.
He also owns an Evo IX MR and he like to go fast.
Barton brought a BONESTOCK IX to us one day out of the blue as he was in town for some business and stopped by because of a noise. That turned into a trip on the dyno and a lasting friendship.
First the car as stock, pre tune then final tune that day-

This worked for awhile on the highways near Bozeman that Barton calls home but sooner or later he needed a fix. The next time he dropped by was after a trip abroad and included an exhaust, MBC, FMIC, and an intake pipe kit-

Again this only lasted for a little bit before the bug hit again and MORE was needed. this time Barton turned to a mutual friend, Curt Brown, for a ported intake manifold and 65mm throttle body that Curt has been doing. The results are impressive. No other changes in parts nor tune and we ended up with this-

While the car is holding a little more boost in the upper rpm according the graph, I attribute this to a new MAP sensor on the dyno and not just more boost. Curt's port job was phenomonal at extracting power out of the stock intake, a feat we attempted years ago and only found 21whp...on a 630whp car. Barton picked up a solid 35whp on a stock turbo car with stock cams.
Well done Curt.
Barton cant wait to hear about your next adventures and see what you decide to do with the Evo next

I feel it would do rather well on E85...if it were widely available in Montana. I am told it isnt however so unless he moves out west we'll have to wait and see or someone else could buy Curt's manifold and TB that has easy E85 access.
