I recently bought a 2003 evo 8, I don't have time to go to a shop with a dyno and desperately need a tune... Any advice on where a good spot to do a mail in ecu flash or remap would be?
I checked tscomp out and it seems like an email tune. Iwork out of town all week and was looking for a place where I could send the ecu out and have it done when I get home on Friday. My buddy had big al do one from dynoflash back in the day but he seems to be mia
so another words you don't have a programmer cable and you don't want to deal with anybody, you rather send the ecu to someone to flash then return it with a tune on it that is basically off the shelf type stuff where its conservative / safe but more power and based on your mods?
it can be done, but it is smarter to just get the tune custom for your car. but i could certainly do it if thats what you want. id just unplug the ecu from my car then flash a new tune on it then return it back.
can certainly be back to you before friday also. send me a email at tscompusa@gmail.com for more info.

Unfortunately that is my situation right now, it sounds lazy but as of now im on a base tune and would like the safe but effective tune until I get can the time away from work to get dyno time. I think the kid the car came from actually had the base tune put on through you guys and has a email tune purchased, ijust simply dont have time to do much and just want my car to b tuned for the parts I have.
just buy a cable and flash the file, you will receive the cable at home, flash the file instead of taking time to ship the ecu, while you drive the car do a wot pull and send it to tom..not that complicated if you think about it.
also you may have mechanical problem that sometimes stops tuning so it wont be the tuner rerponseability if problem happend.

I agree with the above. Buy a cable and laptop. Have Tscomp or someone tune it . You might need to make small changes to boost/timing/fuel at some point. There is plenty of material online to learn how to tune an evo. If you plan on owning the car it will need to be tweaked at some point and will be cheaper to do it yourself on small stuff.
An EVO is kinda like a late model DSM in a way. It turns regular people into mechanics one day at a time.

The most effective way and fastest to get your car tune is on a dyno with a reputable shop. I see that you're in NY, give stm a call and make an appointment with them. Plan ahead so you can just take a day off from work and dedicate the whole entire day for it. This way you get your car tune by one of the best, straightforward and effective. This way your car will get the last ounce of power reliably.

lol "big Als" mia on mitsubishi forums for a reason, if your in NY goto STM they have a great reputation. Other wise TScomp does great work just from looking at his results, logs, etc. But your saying you need your car "desperatly" tuned so Im assuming its running rough? before you even consider having a mail order tune where someone cant even datalog you make sure your car is running well and you dont have any "hardware" issues. Or else that mail order tune isnt going to do jack.
Pretty sure STM has a load based dyno... and the wonderfull thing about factory ecu's is that they have compensation maps. Dyno is the safest way to tune a car period. Ive road tuned multiple times but if Im using software that has real time tuning with a load based dyno I might wanna go out and do a couple of "test" runs on the street but its pretty much dead on.
