evo 8 stock turbo E85 very minimal mods

These results can give hope for someone that has access to E85 and doesn't really want to change much in their evo.

ECU: Stock ecu + tephra v7 MAF

Full mod list:

ETS intake
AMS TBE
AMS MBC
ID1000 injectors
walbro 255
stock clutch

very minimal mods and very nice power.

***** Update *****

We went to another road that is smoother. no other smoother around and we got this.

all runs overlayed;

looks good? maybe to the average eye but lets look closer;

see the orange and lime green spikes? can't use those runs they are not accurate.

green line is borderline, but id toss it as well.

so heres what we are left with with no spikes.

who knew you had to tune roads in order to get legit results! LOL!

======================================

Track results with a heavy SSL full weight evo. nothing is removed from this car except for what was upgraded listed above.

Thanks Tom. Very nice gains for minimal money. If anyone is unsure of going E85 on their Evo, let me tell you that it is definitely worth it. I had to wait about a week for Tom, but the wait was worth it for a great tune.

E85 is like nitrous do nothing to the car and boom close to 400whp lol.I know with my set up is currently making 360whp on 93 and my tuner (Jr ) was telling with the car sitting as is with E85 i would be ard 420whp.I prob will go this rout later but for now i will stick to 93 as its more convenient for me.

During the tuning about 31psi not sure what it held. some runs were 352/349tq after back to back pulls with no cool down on the car in between flashes.

Thats how all my curves look on stock turbo cars. just even hp/tq usually.

Ya its true. It cools down the air a lot and even provides a little more airflow due to the affect of it increases the VE by anywhere up to 2-3%, which means you get an additional 2-3% of airflow. ethanol has a very high latent heat of vaporization as opposed to gasoline itself.

knowing about the fuel you tune is just one major big plus. there are a lot of cool things that can be done to take further advantage over this fuel.

Ya i dont know how long the stock clutch lasts in a evo, but when i bought my evo it was shot within 2-3 days. but mine came with a t67 turbo kit. so who knows. Thanks Dan!

Hey Travis, can you send me the logs from the track? did you log it? looks like you did. We can see what HP level it was at with the logs at the track.

We tuned later in the night started around 11pm i believe? ended at over 12 right? so cooler air then. Back to back runs sometimes yielded into the 350's im curious what power it was at trapping 110.

I think 370 should be more like 115~ or so. but send over the logs and we can take a look. i know night vs day theres quite a difference in power in summer.

My other customer on a evo 8 took his to the strip a few days ago at about 330whp and went 112. i see you have a SSL evo though. super nice inside.

Thanks for sharing Tom. The car is probably tapering to 21/22psi by 7k... that is what I usually see on 8turbos sometimes on 9s.

As for the track visit. The Evo8 I tuned that put down 347whp vd and 317whp md trapped 112mph. Pretty sure this evo was making around the same at the track.

i see the problem in the video. hes shifting at 7500rpm. if he shifted at 6500 right before the power falls off it would perform a bit better in 2nd and 3rd.

31psi spike will usually drop down to around 22-24 depends though on mods and car in general. and of course the preload on the wga. stock preload sucks.

True on both parts. I'm trying to get this evo8 turbo to hold a little better and it should make good power, maybe 400whp.
