2.3 if using 4g63 block no doubt! or 2.2. when you're ready for one let me know.

I agree!

Ya the gas is really good Jerry. even with that much boost at high RPM i was still able to run 14* in it.

===========================

Both of these cars went to the track tonight. The FP Black car only was able to go 11.4 @ 126.95 so basically 127 due to the turbo is blown now. It is a journal bearing turbo.

In the video when the turbo was good it was pulling on the 6266 car, so who knows what it would of trapped in full health.

The 6266 car went 130.90 so basically 131. His ET was only 11.6 however.

Seeing results like this make the decision even harder to make, Tom. I have heard the "FP Black is too expensive for a stock frame turbo" crowd speak loud around here in my part of Texas. "Get the 6262" they scream. I think that for 3/4ths of EVO owners, the FP Black is more than enough turbo (on E85 of course) and these results prove that. I am sure the owner loves the car.

That is promising. Is this a standard 2.3L or the 2.3RPM made by Buschur?

it started off as an AMS 2.3L stroker KIT, now it's just a local build and I continued with the Manley 100mm stroker crank.

I have very crappy luck and like tom said my turbo blew at the track. After every pass my temps shot up to 3/4 but dropped right back down after, do you think this means it's time for a cooling system upgrade? Could this have contributed to my turbo failure? What else could cause my turbo failure? The compressor wheel is grinding on the casing and it's not building boost anymore.

What would everyone recommend I go with for a cooling upgrade?

I cut open the oil filter today and theres no abnormal shavings. Just the normal that I would expect from the first oil change on a freshly rebuilt engine.

Luckily FP will rebuild for 300 now. Probably thrust bearing failure in turbo. Upgrade to DBB is worth it if you got the cash. Never have an issue again.

Nice job TOM as usual. Now as far as the FP over the PTE thats a hard one. I had a black and moved to a 6266BB turbo and have not regret it at all. Where I trapped 126 with my FP im now trapping 138mph with my PTE and thats with a crappy 1.6 60ft. The PTE seems to pull well into 9500rpm (my shift point) and wants even more. Im only on 30psi and moving to 38 here soon and more timing. Looking for a 145+ trap speep in a full weight car at 3700ft elevation. Im have not been convienced that the FP likes high boost too much after mine failed on me and have read tons of others have also. I love how the FP makes awesome power on pump gas and mid lvl boost but cannot compare with the PTE 62 series on race/E85 and high boost. Just my opinion based on actual experience.

I agree. That 6266 car in the video is mine. I originally bought a fp black for my build but then last minute changed my mind and went with the 6266. I will be switching to E85 next season which is where this turbo should shine... Pump gas just does it no justice! Doesn't help that im on a 2.0L

Levar The FP Black is an awesome turbo! I will probably find myself going back to it later on in the future. 600WHP in an evo is more then enough to have fun with.

I am fan of OEM parts and if its not broken don't fix it. The OEM radiator is more then enough to keep the car cool. If its overheating its something else if the rad doesn't have any hairline cracks in it.

I have quite a few cars on JB blacks and no issues at all. it really comes down to what oil is being ran through it i think.

Its really not fair to compare stock frame to non stock frame though. I tune a lot of FP black cars and rarely they fail, but it does happen. So do bigger turbos also though. It happens. The FP black imo likes boost. It can take a lot of boost and no issues when the proper oil is being ran.

When I had my DBB black i ran 48psi a couple times and no issues (mbc spike). Then set it to 36-37psi across to redline and it lasted and i sold it to my customer and hes running it now with no issues.

Your car on E85 will make huge power. More then you probably want to run on the street and in general to keep the setup reliable.
