Well after bending 3 rods on my stock 2.0 I said I may as well do a 2.3l. Big Thanks to English racing for getting me all my parts as fast as they did. After the car was up and running I had Aaron work his magic on the tune. I was real happy with what it put down seeing it was 90degs in the dyno room.
Mods are
2.3L
Mitsu 2.4 crank
1400HD 2 pistons
Eagle rods
ARP main studs
ARP L19 head studs
S1 cams
SS valves
Skunk2 intake manifold(Curt Browns old one)
Skunk2 TB
Skunk2 fuel rail
Spoolingup COP
Toxic fab exhaust manifold
Map external wastegate 0\2/down pipe
HKS 7460R
JMF 4in intake/perrin filter kit
fic bluemax 1250 injectors
Buschur test pipe and cat back.
ACT flywheel and ACT XTSS clutch
grimmspeed 4bar
Hallmen boost controler.
SD tune
ETS 3.0 intercooler kit
Boost was at 26-27psi

Love the HKS turbo.
Its just too responsive on 2.3: do you have any surge or part throttle modulation issues?
I would consider upgrading to BBK-B, because its as responsive on 2.3 as HKS is on 2.0, but with near-no surge issues..and of course +40whp.

nice! Get some GSC S3's
not bad, how do you like the HKS 7460R?

Thanks i was looking for someone that has the s1, 2,3, hks 7460R .. and it looks great for what i want. is it fun to drive.. does it feel like it drops in power late in the rpm? would you (if you had the chance.. change to s2´s) ?
HKS is flat form 5500 to redline on 2.3 from experience. But it can make on E85 425-440whp on MD, which is 500-515whp on Dynojet. This suggestion is based on results of customers at FFTec in Hayward, one of 2 most conservative dynos' on West Coast and wider (GST motorsport and FFTec Mustangs read same low conservative numbers).
There is no point to HKS 7460 on 2.3..because 2.3 will not make more power than 2.0, it will make more torque...
2.3 is to spool larger turbo sooner, so you can install at least HTA3076 or EFR8374 or precision 5858 or similarly larger turbo and retain most of the HKS spool on 2.0 but gain in mid and top end.
No surge in midrange..on 2.3: that must have Wastegate set at soft or ..not sure how?
HKS surges on 2.0, a touch, not annoyingly but it does flutter DV at part throttle is DV is stiff to take 30psi on E85.
So I don't buy this smooth as stock..on 2.3 my HKS was making 6psi or more at 2000rpm, it was nuts..it was boosting so early so hard that motor could not ingest it -despite Buschur Stage 3 head and all fixings...
So Fraguzz, thread carefully.
If you just want response, get HKS and enjoy it on 2.0...its cheap.
If you want power, get a 2.3 and big turbo and enjoy. But this will cost you, quiet a bit.

Fraguzz, forgot to tell you: stock frame on 2.3- get Blouch XTR 3.0...its same pretty much as BBK-B DBB.
I went from HKS 7460 to BBK-B DBB and it was just big enough to not surge annoyingly but spool was insane: 10psi at 2500rpm, 15psi at 2750rpm, by 3000rpm..whatever you want!
Its a great turbo, CBRD no longer offers it few are around so you won't find used easily (BBK-B) but you can get new Blouch 3.0XTR which is basically what BBK-B was.
FP Green/Red are Ok, but Green is a bit smaller than -B/3.0XTR and Red is much laggier, so XTR 3.0 somehow retains HKS spool on 2.0 with more power on top for 2.3

this is correct. and a red is similar in size to 2.0. the 2.0 actually has a bigger compressor wheel. but the red outperforms it power wise. the 2.0 spools a little faster. Blouch turbos have seriously light wheels compared to FP. FP red around 80 grams. 2.0 around 58 grams.
lol thanks for taking your time to reply on both forums :-) alpinaturbo
I rather have info from someone that has tryed it so thanks..
I do believe that the 6 engine in your tme is abit stronger.. than my 5 engine..
Ok problem is that i have already bought the 2.3parts except pistons.. and the turbo is also at home..
And i really read alot of good things about the 2.3 setup.. reason why.. well as you might know the 5 engine can not install aftermarked rods.. so i have to change pistons also and beeing a high milage car.. i would have to bore the block alittle so might aswell build a short or long block along my current engine... that was the plan..
So maybe i should put my project on hold and sell off the 7460-r kai i have and save up for something like the 3.0.. even when im not aiming higher than around 450hp to keep my rear diff and transfer box in one piece :- ) and i dont want to go creasy on clutches.. current holds 500hp and 500fpt..
oh would like to stay stock frame.. because of dont want to spend huge amounts on a manifold.. + it keeps it looking fairly standard..
Oh do have the parts to go SD btw.. just have a problem that very few run evos in my country.. if i where to do an evo meet with all the evos i know of in a 300mile radius we would be like 10cars.. And beause of that there is not alot that know their way around our stock ECU... was thinking about TScomp from over there.. to do a remote tune..
Btw about cams.. was thinking of getting new cams.. some i could use in my current engine to get more hp further out the rev range.. so it does not drop as mutch at 6500 (stock everything almost) have been reading s1 /s2 ... could be cool if i could use them in my stroker later also..

Can you please send me a link for the MAP external wastegate product you're using?...
You may be leaving 700rpm of spool on the table if it's the product I think it is.
Cheers, Mike
