Stock Block Stock Frame GTX3582R S2 E85 32psi

Posting this for my customer Jeff.

My other customer JP that is friends with Jeff asked me to retune his friend after driving in his vehicle, so im posting it now.

Few things that need to be pointed out. The spool is a little lazy on this turbo. Its an internally gated setup, so it must be something to do with the wastegate preload, but we left it where it was to keep it safer for the stock blocks sake.

2nd thing is, the injectors. PTE 1200cc injectors. We hit 92% duty cycle at 554whp so we had to stop. So 32psi is the maximum that was ran due to that. Also due to keeping torque under the 400 mark also for safety.

Mods are:

Garrett gtx3582r turbo (stock frame)
Map rev3 intake manifold
Map long runner exhaust manifold
FullBlown 70mm TB
pte 1200cc inj
Buschur double pumper
turbosmart bov
invidia o2 housing and downpipe
tomei titanium testpipe and titanium catback
GSC S2 mivec
ETS 3.5" FMIC w/ ETS upper and lower ic piping
Grimmspeed 3 port.
Tephra v7 Speed density /w ecuboost

Yeah... That is some lazy spool... Doesn't look like much fun to be honest... Great power, but no fun... How much of a difference would proper preloading cause in terms of RPM?

I just finished retuning my evo with tom and could not believe the results I got from his amazing tuning. I didn't know my car can drive this good coming from a ****ty tune I got from a shop in California near the San bernardino area no need to call em out on it but its really messed up they screw people over like that. Tom pretty much saved my engine from catastorphe and got my tune to where I can finally experience the great potential of my cars many mods I have done to it and the smoothest ride I have ever expiernced on speed density. I'm so glad I meet this guy he has put a new hope and a new day on my car and I'm completely happy and overjoyed by car now versus before. I can't ask for a better tune this guy is so honest and gives u amazing feedback while he tunes ur car not so much I can say about the other guy that tuned my car other then he's a retard.

It may spools slow, but if the valve train was upgraded that has the potential to do 600HP on the stock block.... Not a bad trade off for slow spool.

another fantastic tune! Being behind the wheel would be a different story....this is coming from a passenger that was in the car the entire time during the tuning progress. i felt jeff's car before how it drove (take offs ****ty on sd, afr's all over the place, pulls no power at all, many knocks etc) . after toms touches it was a totally transformed. jeff had a bigger and bigger smile every log LOL. car runs smooth as hell and pulls hard. jeff and i cant compliant about a damn thing! thanks again tom.

sorry if I missed it was this on e85 or pump gas ( cali so I'm assuming it would be 91) but looking at the #'s I'm guessing e85?

he revved it out to 8,000 rpm and he has an upgraded "valve train" because he has gsc s2 cams. also its not his valve train thats holding him back but rather the stock bottom end and oem rod bolts. the stock short block does not like to be revved higher then 8,200rpm or it'll pop. if he upgraded his bottom end he would be able to rev to 10,000 if he really wanted to.

Thanks for the referal JP and thanks for the nice review there Jeff. I appreciate it.

TigOLD id say thats not accurate. 8200RPM sounds way conservative, but at the same time very safe.

I had a ton of customers go over 140 in the 1/4 on stock blocks with stock regular 8 gear boxes, so with a 26" tall tire and evo 8 4th gear, you can use your imagination to figure out the RPM. Its higher then 8200RPM.

Id say you can safely rev then out all the time around 8500-8800 but i wouldn't go over that. and every setup is different, due to the turbo. a stock turbo would be pointless to rev out past 8k.

I did a little touch up tune on Jeff's car. Before adjusting boost pressure, i just did a few tweaks on the fuel map and adjusted what he requested. It put down a solid 586whp, but Jeff asked me if that was safe, so i had to tell him the truth. Honestly anything over 380wtq isnt really something I can call "safe" with confidence, so i told him no, since it was around 420wtq.

So we dialed the boost down a tad, around 26psi, and got a conservative 516whp with a very safe 381wtq.

If rev'ed out further, it would have made a little more HP, but you get the idea.

Both graphs overlayed. Hes happy with the lower boost, so thats where we are keeping it.

Still looks like a fun car

Needs a built bottom end then he can really have fun with one of your tunes.
