Pte 5858 built short block

Finally got around to putting my car back together after I cracked the block on the old setup.
This setup is precision 5858 built 2.0L stock head and Kelford 272 cams. Ethanol for fuel. I was pretty impressed, didn't think I'd see these kind of numbers from this turbo.
On the pull it made over 700 it lost tach signal so torque went crazy, so I posted a pull right after the 704 pull.

How many pounds of boost to get those numbers? You guys were really pushing the turbo.

I honestly looked for more results from a 5858 before I bought it, I was skeptical if it was going to perform. I made a lot of boost in it last night and it has a nice fat power band. Doesn't pull up top like 6466 did obviously, but comes into boost hard and holds power through like 8200 from the butt dyno. The trans shifts so much nicer at 8400 than 9200rpm. I think I will enjoy this setup.

Great results, man! Glad to see that you got it back on the road and now you will get to enjoy it without having to rev to the moon lol.

Any pump gas numbers? I have this turbo myself along with other mods ready to go on my car. Hoping to get close to 500 on it

I just had it tuned on ethanol because we have a ton of stations a around here. I would say as long as you have some decent 93 pump gas, 500 hp should be fairly easy to attain.

Congrats! I enjoyed your 6466 video pull with the Asian lady. Perhaps another in car video? Is a 5858 bigger than a black?

Looks like it was making 20lbs at 4300 and 40lbs at 4900 from the logs on the dyno, I'll log some street pulls this weekend and see how it spools on the street with a little more load on it.

i was on the fence about getting this turbo because i thought it wouldn't be enough, I'm really debating it now vs a 6262.....i also had a 6466 on my evo before and loved it (besides the lag)....any other power adding mods that would have helped make the 700whp?

615tq?!!

How hard were you pushing the car with the 6466 to split the block ?

Just a fairly mild build 9.0/1 CR, stock head, and Kelford 272 cams. I'm happy with it, my goals were to move the power band to the left some and just lower it to a more maneagable and reliable level that's still decently fun. IMO though at 700 this turbo is pretty well maxed out, I'm sure we could squeeze a little bit more out of it, but I'm happy with it as is.

The most it ever made on the dyno with the 6466 was 850hp. Some people don't have any issues at those levels, but I've also seen a few blocks crack. I wouldn't be scared to try it again, I just got tired of tearing my trans apart and replacing gears and synchros and having issues with oil pumps and all the side effects that come with revving 9800 and making 800-900hp.
