Buschur Racing built EVO8

Hi guys!

Last week I had a good friend who's been working with us on his EVO since 2004 come in for a tune on his new turbo. The car is just amazing and he had some great results at the Virginia 1/2 mile too!

The car is a 2003 EVO8 and it's owned by Matt Smith from North Carolina.

The build consists of:

BR 2.1
BR Stage 3 head
BF 272 cams
FP Super 94
BR coil on plug ignition
BR upper and lower i/c pipes
BR Race FMIC
Bushwacker trans with stock gear ratios
Exedy Triple Clutch
Reese Chassis 10 point NHRA certified cage
BR forward facing header/turbo kit
BR double pumpers with -6 feed line, BR fuel rail and 2150 cc FIC injectors
E85 fuel
AEM Series 1
BR ported stock intake manifold
BR 65 mm throttle body
BR 3.5" turbo back exhaust

The car made 776 whp and 612 ft lbs of torque on our Mustang dyno here. Our dyno reads 13% less than an AWD Dynojet, so for you Dynojet guys that's 876 whp and 685 ft lbs.

Matt went to the Virginia half mile last weekend and won the 4 door class there by a large margin. Running a best of 187.34 mph. After reviewing his logs there is quite a bit left in the car and we are planning a cam change too that will pick it up even more on the top end. Him and I would both like to see the car run 200 mph in the 1/2.

This is a full heavy street car. Full factory interior, stock wheels, 17" DR's and a full certified NHRA legal cage and parachute.

Great job putting the car together Matt, not a single issue on the dyno. We supply the parts and Matt does all his own work. He even painted the entire car, it was silver at one time. Great job driving too Matt!!

Here's a picture of the dyno sheet and few of the car.

We dyno'd it up to 47 psi, the 1/2 mile event was run at about 44 psi.

David, it is a super clean car, I was at the event and talked with Matt a bit. Car did excellent and was in rape mode and none of the other evos there even came close to touching him... Great job Matt!

As far as boost being down a bit, I expected the boost to be down about 2 psi due to elevation and air density since it was on the very top of a mountain... but I know almost everyone I talked to says they were having small issues with holding/making boost and that it was crappy because the air was kinda thin...

Thanks, Matt has done a really nice job on the car. I wasn't able to get logs from him, I guess there was no reception there. Hell he did really well, turning the boost up more may or may not have helped, you never know.

Car definitely looks good, especially with the electric power steering conversion, it really cleans up the engine bay a lot.

There was absolutely no reception up there... I was lucky to get a text every other hour... you could pretty much hang up trying to send one...

I offered to look at the AEM logs for him just to make sure everything was safe, but he felt comfortable with everything, and the car was running good, so he let it be. Turning up the boost definitely helped, as he picked up 5 MPH from his first run at 182mph...

It was a really good day, the only carnage was one of the Heffner Prepped TT Lambos from OG Prestige... blew a headgasket which in turn tossed a rod out of the block... but when you have a 2 million dollar trailer, I don't think it really matters too much...

I appreciate you offering, some of these guys are on "request" to not let anyone else look and change their maps.

I'd guess that messing up a Lambo matters, just a different scale of money.

This car is clean and making big power. Thumbs up to that. But i dont know about it being a heavy street car. I see titanium bolts and nuts everywhere. No ac no power brakes no power steering looks like the super light weight shocks small radiator... im sure im missing plenty. again this car is well built. thumbs up.

Probably ahs the Buschur electric power steering setup. And ABS/booster delete is pretty SOP on straight line racing evo's...

I believe that I saw this years and years ago when I was still a kid, nice to see a local car.
