Back in 2023 i ventilated my stock block 2005 Evos engine. Kids, house projects and trying to be a responsible "adult" led to the car sitting for a year. In January of this year after I deleted my 20' RAM 2500 i got the itch to keep wrenching so I dove into the **** show of a project of pulling everything except the brake lines and wiring harness, did as much of a "restoration" - grinding/wire wheeling and sanding & painting everything... every bracket, mount, trans, transfer case and replacing all of the hardware & clamps with yellow zinc fasteners and replacing hoses as needed. I had a 2.4L LR built with a stage 2 head running Buschurs old school BF272 cams, upgraded the head studs to L19 head studs, went with their baffled oil pan, added their universal catch can kit and had the valve cover re-powder coated. finally got the car back together and took it back out to David to tune on 93oct and E85 using stock ECU and speed density. The car ended up making 462whp and 454wtq at 26psi on 93oct... then we drained the fuel and filled up with fresh E85. After the first partial throttle run - the car made 554whp and just over over 500wtq at 33psi. David was SHOCKED at the power on the FIRST run... it took about 10 seconds of tuning and a little more boost to make 572whp and almost 530wtq. I said lets shoot for 600whp, but after he checked the log we maxed the single 340 pump out. He turned it back down & the car settled at 549whp and 508wtq at 32psi. I think we were all kind of shocked at these numbers on their dyno considering im running an old school (2010) JB FP Red that i had freshened up. The car is a handful on the street and i couldn't be happier with the build as a street car. David, Brandon and Mike at Buschur were amazing to work with through the whole deal and i have nothing but nice things to say. I have been going to Buschur for almost 25 years with my 1G talon, then the Evo when i bought it new in 2005. If it was earlier in the year, i would already have a double pumper on the car to see what we could push this little Red to, but i'm just enjoying it before the weather really turns.

Full build info:

Does anyone know what the actual record is for the FP RED????

That's pretty good power especially on a mustang which I think is what Buscher has.

The double pumper is nice but honestly man, I would just leave it be lol. There is something to be said for the simplicity of a single pump and no hobbs switch or anything.

Get the double pumper for insurance.

@schuhie Thanks man - Its definitely good power on their dyno & yes its a mustang dyno that is literally nicknamed "the heartbreaker". I'm pretty sure their double pumper kit is custom made in house and is still a drop in unit - very simple design. I wasn't chasing numbers or records... but i think with a double pumper setup - it would easily make 600-620 on their dyno which from what i read would be 675-700 on a dynojet figuring a 13% difference.

@High_PSI thats what im thinking... and i do want to see what this little red can make. I think its up towards the top of whats been made from what David said the day he tuned it. It'd be cool to crack 600+whp on that dyno with this small of a turbo.

O yea, the double pumper setups are pretty easy to put in the tank, its just adding another thing that can go wrong and if the second pump or hobbs switch fails and you don't catch it, its a cooked motor. If a single pump dies, it just don't start lol.

It would be interesting to see what it would do with more fuel though, I agree there. How was the injector duty cycle? 1440s are a bit smaller than I normally see on E.

Yea this build holds the record for FP red MHI. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...l#post11574581

A Xona FP red with SS hotside would be able to beat those numbers but I haven't seen any results from people running that turbo yet.

@deylag - thanks! I think with a double pumper i may be able to challenge this. I'm interested to see what we can push it to. Buschurs dyno reads 13%-15% lower than most dyno jets.

yeah it’ll fix all fueling problems for a long while.

I think the whole point of the stock frame turbos is to retain the twin scroll housing. Single scroll you may as well go big.

i have a BB FP RED from 2012 and it made 460 whp on pump at 27 psi I believe . Every reliable and spools quick

Yea I agree that stock frame records should be attempted with twin scroll hotsides for preserving the design intent of the stock setup. However, FP has shown that switching over to a SS hotside will make more power. Its a difficult choice to choose one over the other for some of us.

but doing the SS doesnt mean abandoning the stock style manifold. i went SS and its mainly because of doing EWG ... either or whether the stock frame turbo is SS or twin scroll, they'll both be faster responding than a t3 or bigger frame turbo i think.
