FP HTA Green Stock Block 93 Octane & E85 - Tuned by TSCOMPUSA/VR-Speed
2003 EVO VIII with these performance mods:
This is my son's car. I recently installed a new FP HTA Green Turbo, 1450cc FIC Bluemax Fuel Injectors, SpoolinUp COP, Omni-Power 4 Bar MAP Sensor, and Grimmspeed 3port Electronic Boost Controller. I decided to go to Tom (tscompusa) at VR Speed Factory for the tune. Tom did a great job with the tune and the car feels very smooth. He switched me over to TephramodV7 ROM and ECU controlled boost. He connected to my laptop remotely to help me through some software issues, and he paid a lot of attention to detail in his tune. The torque was intentionally kept at approximately 400 ft. lbs. at my request, due to the fact that I want to keep the stock block in one piece. 93 Octane Results: 434HP/401TQ http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL157.../401977079.jpg Preliminary E85 Results - Not Finished - Slipping Clutch: 453HP/413TQ http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL157.../401977080.jpg The clutch gave out before Tom could finish the tune. He has added some timing and tweaked the boost curve, and before my clutch gave out it felt much stronger than the tune with 453 HP shown below. I have no doubt that once I figure out what I want to do about a new clutch he will be able to get 480+ HP while keeping the torque at about 400 ft. lbs. Great results in my opinion, thanks Tom! 9-27-2011 Update Installed a new ACT XTSS Clutch and Tom went back to work on the tune. He was able to quickly get close to 500 HP but we were a little bit uncomfortable with the torque curve on the stock block. Dyno graph below: For a safer tune Tom intentionally delayed the Torque punch and we ended up with the dyno graph below: E85 Results with Intentionally Delayed Torque: 506HP/433TQ http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL157.../401977082.jpg The car will definitely take more timing, but for the sake of my stock block we decided to leave it where it's at. With a more aggressive tune I'm sure that there is another 30HP or so in the car,. The car feels great on the street, and hopefully we will get to the track before it closes for the year to see what it will do in the 1/4 mile. 9-30-11 Update E85 Results: 520HP/456TQ http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL157.../401977083.jpg Tonight Tom flattened out the torque curve by raising the boost at lower RPM. The car is out of fuel at this point, so I need to figure out what to do about a fuel pump / fuel system. If anyone has any idea's let me know. I would like to avoid the expense of a double pumper if possible. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL157.../401977085.jpg 10-22-11 Update: Finally got to the track last night. Best pass of the night was exactly where I thought it would be, 11.19 ET at 125 mph. 1.59 60' on all season street tires. Keep in mind that this is pretty much a full weight EVO with a 250lb driver (my son). The car is still needing more fuel in the upper RPM's. I bought a Walbro 400 lph fuel pump and an adjustable FPR from Tom last week. |

That's one clean 8. Good results so far too. Wish my dad hooked me up with a green instead of complaining my car stinks of ethanol! Ha!

Nice job with the tune Tom, car looks good drb...I really like the airbox! Anymore details or close up pics of it?
|
Nice my green made the exact same numbers.
Good stuff!! |
Very nice! What brand is that intake box?
Thanks! |
A couple of more pics of the cold air / induction box.. I made it from aluminum sheet and bar stock. There is a hose from the front bumper feeding it air along with the stock snorkle. I did not save the template because I have made several mods to the box for different intake set ups that I have used.

Looks good sir! The fun things you can do when you don't have a bunch of ACD crap there...haha...I have a similar setup to that on my 97 GSX....{thumbup} |
