572whp 30R LR2.4 Martin's Evo IX
 
EDIT- This is a 3076R after checking with ETS one exactly what kit we had.

Martin has been coming to us for awhile after he found a great deal on his Evo IX. It came with a Standard 35R turbo kit, suspension, wheels, and a few parts that really set the car up for bigger and better things. When it was on the stock 2.0L we started off with a Magnus, SD tune, and some S3s to match the 3.5" intercooler and HKS Carbon/Ti exhaust. That got us up to 467whp but it lacked the snap that Martin was really looking for. After toying with the idea of dropping to a smaller turbo and staying with the stock motor, Martin decided he wanted a bigger motor.

So after discussing the options, Martin decided to a LR2.4 vs just a 2.3 since he could end up revving higher more comfortably and knew what we have already pushed them to.

Mods that matter-

ER LR2.4
ER Custom Wiseco 1400HD 9:1
R&R 156mm I beam rods
GSC S2 camshafts
GSC Beehive kit with Ti Retainers
Bushmaster Cylinder head
Magnus V5 intake manifold
FIC 2150cc injectors
Buschur Racing Double Pumper fuel pump kit
AMS oil pan
Unknown std 35R turbo kit 0.82 A/r
HKS Carbon/Ti exhaust
ER SD tune with Omnipower 4 bar
Hallman MBC

This morning we got a few minor things changed with the vacuum routing and got the car on the dyno for the pump tune. This was the result on WA 92 octane-

For giggles here is what the car did before on the 2.0L overlayed with the today's 2.4 results-

The car has picked up 100 ft lbs pretty much globally up to 6k where the gains start to diminish. Not much but still, +75whp at 6500, +53whp at 7000, +30 at 7500, and after that the little 35R was running out of breath. Spool increased 550 rpm on average with 24.8psi being reached at 4186rpm vs 4729 before on the 2.0L.

Then came the switch to E85-

The turbo is straight finished off at this level believe it or not. I went from 27psi and 562whp to 29psi and only made 572whp with an additional 17 ft lbs.

Hopefully this is more along the lines of what Martin was after when he started his project with us. If nothing else it should be able to win some tickets from the State Patrol ;)

The only other change was actually dropping cam size to the S2 (OTS) from S3s, otherwise its the same as it was.

Wow that is amazing, that is the same gear pull right? And Can he just put and HTA86 and call it a day :)

Yeah it just needs the larger 3586 and this combo will be very similar to what mine is/was.

No but it is an odd looking 4 bolt 0.82. So odd in fact that until it came off the car I could have sworn it was a 0.63 and a five bolt to boot. Its cast like a 5 bolt but its not drilled for the WG hole or the 5th bolt. I dont think its the same as the new style Garrett 4 bolt 2.5" discharge stuff though. It also has a low angle merge (read short runner) that seems to help down low but not so much out the top.

What kind of turbo is it?? I'm confused as to why the turbo ran out of breath at 27psi. I have a .63 Garrett 35r and it keeps pushing up to 35psi, which is where the test was stopped.

Customer preference. I would have personally left them in, but based on his experience with how the felt below 4k on the 2.0L he wanted to go back to something a little smaller.

Good question and the answer is- Adjusted displacement.

A 2.4 is using roughly 20% more air if the VE hasnt changed much overall. Your 2.0L at 35psi is the same as a 2.4 at 28ish. I dont have the other dyno file with me, but when a car gains 10whp/17 ft lbs with 2psi of boost it doesnt matter if it was 19psi or 29psi the turbo is done. In this particular case its pretty clear with the boost dropping to 21psi out the top as well. It was using EVERY last bit of air the 35R could dish.

I saw exactly the same correlation in my personal car as well as most of the 2.4 builds we have done the install and tunes on prior and post to the engine change. While my car might be a mutant, it made 588 at 22.7psi on the 2.4 while it was 29.5 on the 2.0L.

Wow just got home, working long days and weekends to pay for this :D

Just wanted to say many thanks to the English Crew!! yet again they go above and beyond.
Special thanks to Lucas!! He has picked my car up from my house twice now.. and im over 3 hours from English, his no hype advice is great and thats what i like. To Aaron for his legendary tuning skills! You rock.
And then for Myles for dealing with all my questions and emails great customer service !!

With this car i debated for a long time what i wanted, i love the kick of fast torque like a stock turbo set up. This car came with a turbo kit , i wanted to go with a stock frame style (prob FP green) but then i knew i could not really turn up the wick up with out always worrying about ventilating the block. So i thought i love that low down power and i like the fast responce, why not go with the very successful English 2.4LR and see what this turbo can do. So thats why i did it. I will prob end up changing this turbo set up down the line..... it does have a super mean sound thou, with this dump on it.

When i did some mods earlier this year with this car we decided to give the S3's a try, they are great and if i was running after a high number i would have kept them but i opted for moving my power more to the left of the graph.
