Need help: hid vs. nonhid IX headlights

I want some IX housing black chrome headlights for my VIII, so basically all I want to know is if I bought a pair of non-hid IX housings is there anyway to use my hid setup off of my 03? I dont care about not having the foglights...just need high beams and the hid's.

Thanks...
James

These are non-hid...attached is hid

I just talked to Gruppe-S and they said there is a kit that will allow you to use the stock ballasts from an HID headlight for the non-HID housing. Can anyone back this up?

No. The non HID housing will not accept a D2S bulb from your originals. You can get D2S adapter rings in 9006 but they are very hard to find and place the bulb in an odd position and negatively effects light output.

You could use the stock ballasts and mod the connectors to fit aftermarket HID bulbs w/ 9006 bases. That would be a cheaper route. Then you can sell the stock HID bulbs to recoup some costs.

www.europeanautosport.com for 9006 HID bulbs (rebased) that will fit, from Philips and Osram for about $200 (email them, they are not posted on the site) You can go cheaper for Chinese HID bulbs on ebay perhaps.

i'd jsut get HID housings because i think its gonna be a mess if it falls apart inside and you need to take it apart. with the Hid housings they fill go right in and mount securely.

You could just have your current housings painted, that might be the easiest option.
