What do you guys think about LoJacks? Do they even work that well, are they quick? I live in the country, so I wonder how will their coverage area even is. I was also checking out the Viper and you can get the GPS stuff. How does this compair to a lojack?

 

Dont get lo jack, your Evo won't be stealable unless you get engine management... So totally a waste of time, just get the viper alarm

I 2nd that!! How did the EVO become #2 most stolen car if the car is not stealable??!!

However, I do agree that lowjack itself is useless cuz by the time you realize your car is missing, your car could be in a crate or in pieces. If you going lowjack, it's good to spend the few extra hundred bucks for the early warning lowjack system.

Lowjack calls up to 5 phone numbers when it detect your car is moving away without the transponder with it.

engine management like AEM EMS will take away the coded key feature(key that program to work with the ECU) we have from factory.

 

The Evo's key/ignition is immobilized. Thus breaking the ignition won't do any good in starting the car because it NEEDS the key. The only way to actually steal an Evo, is using another Evo ignition along with the key, or if it has engine management, then you can just take it like any other car. This process takes nearly an hour!!! [If you're a good theif] Im not sure about people in other states, such as California, Florida, the major ones... Probably people that know how to get their way around it, but this is the bases of stealing an Evo. I believe in most cases, if anyone has got their car broken into, it only went that far. Things were taken from the car, but not actually stolen. If im wrong please correct me. But like I said, just get a viper alarm, that is really good a sensitive. If you had lojack anyways, like gobyebye said, your car would be totally stripped but you would know where to find it. 4Gsixty3 answered the question about enginemanagement, thats exactly what it is.

Good thing that I have LoJack with early warning system and viper 791xv alarm. Having car parked in gated garage at work double up the security.
I understand theifs will always find a way to stealing a car if they really wanted. That's why I park next to Cayman and M5 at work.

 

Nice, I need to get an alarm asap, I cant believe a high end car like this doesn't even come with one! My car doesn't even go off when I unlock it from the outside when its locked! But wow park next to a Cayman and an M5? What do you do for a living? How do you like the alarm? Im looking to see which one I should get.

 

Yep, I'm installing a Viper - cheap insurance, imo!

 

If you have remote start is will also disable the immobilizer. Your key has a chip in it that the ignition reads.

 

Does anybody know anything about the microtrakgps?
It seems like it would be cheaper than the viper, and better than the lojack.

They advertise in those airplane skymall magazines, and they list the prices. I can't remember exactly now but I definitely remember the advertised prices being cheaper than the Viper.
