Low-Cost Security Options
Hey guys,
I was looking into purchasing a "Click-it-Club" for secuirty purposes. At $40.00 it seems like a good option to me, but I was wondering if there are any others out there. Eventually I am having the factory alarm coupled with an Early-Warning Lowjack system, but I am looking for some sort of deterrent in the meantime.

Any ideas?
(And yes, I understand this does not prevent thieves from towing the car.)

Unplug the neutral safety at the clutch when needed or hide a switch and install a relay to interrupt the circuit. Pull the fuel pump fuse. There are many easy things that will make a car difficult to steal that are not expected by a car theif. You can hacksaw through a steering wheel in a few seconds and remove a "Club" type device. Theives target cars with them because they figure the owner was too cheap to install a real alarm system.

If you are looking for a cheap solution, and this is CHEAP! Go to Fry's electronics or some other electronics store and buy a flashing LED in red or another color but red is the most convincing. Then wire it up to your car through 12v connection and a small switch. Then when you park your car somewhere you can turn on the flashing led and it looks like you have a car alarm installed. The LED uses hardly any electricity so it won't kill your battery and may be enough to scare a thief off.
