The guy on ebay has good adapters, the acutal size seems to be a 7" european Din size.

I agree....unless the 9's speaker sizes changed from the 8's, standard 6.5" speakers will NOT fit.

I have 6.5" MB Quarts in the fronts and backs and they needed custom mounting to fit properly.

The holes are pretty deep. I just put a set of Pioneer mid woffers in the doros and still have 2-3" between the door and the magnet. it would have to be a pretty deep speaker to not fit. Also like others mentioned I had to make a addapter ring to fit the 6.5" speaker in. The hole in the door is 6" The average 6.5" speaker has the mounting points on a 6" diameter circle.

Most tweeters are about the same size. Different brands are slightly different sizes, but most brands don't offer more than one size. Wiht a little work you should be able to fit any of them in the stock location.

JL audio makes some of the best subs on the market . i dont have an Evo yet but i did install a system in my friends 8

2-alpine type R 6.5 up front
2-alpine type r 6.5 out back
powered by alpine f450
i just used alpines mounting bracket and they fit perfectly.

for the lows we did 1 JL audio 10"W7 powered by JL 1000/1

the system had a nice balance of lows and mids the highs where a lil weak but that was fine with us. if you are worried about weight and trunk space the 8"W7 is a nasty lil sub in a great package.

Pioneer 6.75"/Oversized 6.5" speakers seem to fit fine. Check out their new component system.
