I will be installing the orbital double din conversion and need to get a screen to fit the area. The main thing I want is navigation but I would also like to be able to play dvd's. I was looking at the AVIC-D2 because it has a great navigation system but doesn't play dvd's directly. I was also looking at the Eclipse AVN5435 but I don't know much about its navigation system. I am looking for suggestions and trying to keep the unit to under 1300 if possible. Thanks for any input.

 

truthfully, i would go with the Kenwood. i like the touch screen, that is what i been thinking to do. but it will cost you a bunch.

dont get eclipse, it doesnt play mp3s, all the disc has to be off the store. you cant put your burned CD.

I just got the Z1 installed (see post about Z1 and HDD) and its amazing! pricey but amazing!

 

The z1 is more than I want to spend right now, my biggest concern is navigation...

 

Aw I was gonna also vote z1. I love mine, though it's the only Nav I've ever owned so I don't have anything to compare it to hehe.

 

I sell both the eclipse avn and the pioneer. If navigation is you main consern id go with the eclipse avn 5500 this unit is the best out thare in navigation. It will play dvds too. I have 12 in stock i will sell one to you for 1299.00. if your intersted pm me.

alpine makes the best nav by far

 

get a tom tom. i had a flip out and got jacked within a week. i couldn't put it in the low radio position there wasn't enough room for the screen. so i had it in the stock radio loc. and with it theres no way to hide the fact that you have a expensive flip out. and getting jacked sucks and its expensive.

 

I was planning on getting a double din version and I have some ways of making it quite difficult to remove...

 

sup, now Im thinking about getting the AVIC Z1 but it's really expensive. Can you guys name good cites where I can find a good price for it or meabe you can tell us what you guys spend getting yours.

 

the eclipse plays mp3s just that model doesnt have as big of a hard drive...


id go with the d2, i just installed one in a sequoia, it was fun....

 

I ended up getting the alpine ivaw200 and will be installing the alpine navi along with it...
