Ive got the clifford with the dei window modules...I love the fact that i can put the windows up and down with jus the remote.. Alarms are just a little inconvience to thieves..thats it.Bottom line is that if they want your car...they are gonna get it regardless...thats the sad part.!!

ive been doing a lot of reading about the Clifford Avant Guard 5. And from what I've read so far, Clifford is better than Viper 5900. 1 reason is because Clifford have better range than Viper.

any comments about Clifford??? where did you buy yours???

Im also doing a search on this, however i only found a few with not enough description or experiences from owners. suggestions about this alarm would be very helpful?

Just an FYI, DEI = clifford, viper, python, hornet, etc... They pretty much bought out the market. There is a few other companies that make alarms, but DEI is by far the most well know and popular.

I wired up a kill swith on my 91 gti, so even if you had the key it wouldnt start unless you hit the switch also which was located in a location only I knew about. It worked awesome! Got it for free, took about an hour to do, simple solution, but then again it had a lot less electronics than the EVO

I have a Omega Excalibur. I'd say it was worth it. I think total cost installed was around $200 (knew a guy that installed it pretty cheap for me). It's not as well known as DEI, but still a pretty good investment. Saved me about $20 on insurance for being a passive anti-theft device.

the latest 2-way clifford alarm ssytem i forgot the model number has a 1 mile radius.

Last night, I was testing my alarm, apparently it only has one sensor located up there in the front, when I knock on the back it didnt give me a warming, but when i do that on the front it does, should I get another sensor or what? or just get another alarm.

You are referring to the Clifford 50.5x or the new Avant or Intelliguards. I have the 50.5x in my Evo and Jetta. I DID start my car from atleast a HALF mile away. Just to test the range somewhat. This was through trees and around corners. I could not see the car and it was facing away from me. I think that a half mile is realisticeverytime. If your car is facing you on a flat surface with very few interfering objects, I suspect the range to be equal to or greater than one mile. I guarantee if it is installed correctly, and you are attempting to start your car from an office building or some other upper elevation level, your range will be equal to or greater than one mile. Clifford/Viper or any other DEI RS/alarm with SST is definately worth every penny.

Maybe you didnt see my post above. It will work through concrete walls of a parking garage. If its 40ft underground with absolutely no openings at all then you will have a problem with anything working. If you can get sufficient cell phone signal in the garage where you park, then any of the DEI remote starters with SST will work. Any of them. I just prefer the cliffords. Check out the website, its pretty informative.

I talked to my very good friend today, he's an electrician and auto mechanic, he's from mexico by the way and he knows lots of gansta from his country and **** anwyays i was at his house yesterday he owns a mercedes and a bmw and before that he had a cobra supercharged anyways he said alarms are just bull****, he said you only need 2 guys knowleageble about cars in general, one unlocks the door, pops the hood, and the other guy takes care of the siren, battery cable and **** and car is stolen. he said no alarm is good. he also said you should have sensors in all four dours, windows, trunk, frotn winshield and **** if you still intersted in alarm in case your car is facing an amateur thief.

His wife is kinda cute too, she's italian he revealed he put a search chip underneath the car sort of like a lowjack that allows him to go the internet and see where the car is when his wife is out and about that way he always know where his wife just in case.

We also discussed many other topis that I can't mention over here coz that's kind of illegal i suppose so yeah lol

For most people when they hear alarm they will just ignore it becasue they think it must be some false alarm. But it's good option for you car if you happen to get break in at night and you can run out and see what's going on.

viper can go through concrete walls, it just cuts down your distance, any electronics cut down your distance too. there are some DEI (aka, viper, python, clifford, etc) that go up to 1 mile.

the 2 way responder is nice, but only if you are that close to your car at all times. an alarm isnt going to guarentee your car isnt going to be broken into, i had the 2way on my civic when i had it and 2 weeks after i put it in, i had my car broken into at my school, i was too far from my car and i came out of my night class to find a smashed in window with glass everywhere and some stolen items.

even though this happened, i purchased the same system for my evo, but i added a few things to it. proximity sensor, back up battery, pizo sirens.... (i have the viper 791XV

The new DEI SST responder units dont suffer from the electronic interference issue. I should know because I had the viper 791 in my VW and the Avital 4400 in my EVO. Those two units wouldnt work for Sh@t after 3pm up at Westover Airforce base where I work. There is some type of jamming that occurs there after 3pm everyday so starting any of my cars was an issue. I switched out to the new Clifford 50.5x on both cars which is the equivalent of the Viper 5900 and I have never had a problem with my car starting. It always starts. From the middle of the mall or any end of the mall. It starts any and everytime I press the button.

The new DEI stuff works well but its all install. I have an Avantgaurd G4 (Clifford before DEI took over) I have an optional FM transmitter/receiver that was not offered to the public and I get close to a mile in metropolitan areas. If the 2way doesn't show a successful transmit/receive I use my cell phone to call my PageMate interface. $1.99 a month gives me almost unlimited range using the pager network. I have the GPS tracker as well with internet connectivity for some features. There are many ways to connect to your car, I had a RedHat GSM modem tied into my Avantgaurd III around 5 years ago. WiFi is coming soon...

I have the new Viper with the 1 mile distance 5900 model. I don't have any complaints about concerte. However, it does have a "delay" compare to the 99x model. Basically, I would be next to the car. When I press a command, the car would execute it but it would take an extra 3-5 sec for the key chain to acknowledge.
