Alarm even worth it?

I was thinking of getting an alarm for my Evo. A Viper to be exact. I have an authorized dealer here that will charge me $550 installed. But is it really worth getting an aftermarket alarm system? The Evo comes with an alarm already. Just want to know your inputs. Thanks

We got an alarm? Look I got a clifford 750. If a pro thief wants your car, he's taking itm but I do think its worth it to protect your car against vadalism, and the average thief, get a fuel cutoff one with a password

Hell yeah. Put mine in 30 minutes after getting home from the dealer. Any noise is better than no noise at all.

If u get one make sure they can wire it with the turbo timer in mind (would prob only apply for remote start)

Thanks for your input. I was actually looking into the Viper 5900.

evo does NOT come with an alarm, just keyless entry and an "engine immobilizer" which apparently can be bypassed. get a viper or a compustar (which is what i'm getting soon). i've heard all spread spectrum alarm systems require remote battery changes a lot and when the battery starts running low they don't even work.

Got a Scytek alarm installed a few weeks ago. It's not as well known as Viper/Compustar. but it's been holding up fine so far. It's about half the price too!

I've read about some turbo'd Civic owners that wire up a hidden kill switch that cuts out fuel and electricity to the ecu. I know Evos and Civics are on opposite spectrums, but value is in the eye on the beholder... A $10 ITR swapped HB could be as valueable to one guy as an Evo would be to another.

Any alarm added to the car has another added benefit... peace of mind!

what is this "2 way alarm"? How does this work? never mind, i found how 2 way work

also, someone mentioned about an alarm that alarms you 1 mile away if the car goes off...well, i heard that the Viper cant go through concrete walls, meaning if im in a building(assuming .5 miles away from the car)...i wont be able to get the signal that the car alarm is going off...

any comment about the Viper?
