Circuit City/Best Buy
Never had a fully audio system install before and don't know how to either. Was wandering which one would u use for installation or experiences with these guys install?
Well it really depends on the store and the more importantly the installer....go talk to the installers and see who you feel comfortable with...If you are not going crazy, either will probably be OK (I did mine)...If you are doing a hard core, custome, multi-amp setup you may want to find a high end shop. Good luck

it doesnt matter if you got yours at best buy or circuit city... installers are installers, a guy at circuit city here might be better then the guy there at CC, and the guy at BB might be better then all of them. If its nothing to serious, like posted before, go to them and talk to them, tell them what you want, ie, dont screw amps into the floor, dont put them on the back of the box or whatever, if you are going with a really good system, hit up a shop and talk to them as well about what you want and dont want. stereo systems are like cars, you can tune them for your liking

Thanks for the quick reply guys! I'm not doing anything fancy, speakers, small 4 way amp, and maybe the integrated amp/sub like the basslink (want to keep trunk space).

I always am weary about big stores like that for installs. The only big chain I would let do an install is tweeter. There expensive but do show quality work. IMO try and find an audio place that all they do is audio and visual stuff.

All I did was install an Alpine 9856 headunit and Ipod in the glovebox...I have buily much more complex systems before and generally the PITA is running new speaker lines through the doors. Other than that, run your RCAs down one side and your power and speaker wires up the other....If you are going to do a 4 channel amp and sub (and speakers and head unit) and have never done an install before, you may want to find an experienced friend to help you. Good luck
check to see how they are going to install it too. i went to sound advice to get mine install and they drilled the amp into the plastic piece behind the back seat and drilled the speaker box threw the carpet into the cardboard piece that covers the spare tire. it didn't last long. the first time i launched the speaker ripped the screws out of cardboard and fell down. the whole plastic piece behind the back seat fell down too (broke the plastic screws that hold it in place)
here it is man just a few quick pics my whole setup is alpine from the rooter to the tooter nah j/k but i have 1 V12 4 channel 1 V12 sub amp type-r components and rear speakers but I have a kenwood indash no alpine 5 volt. But n e ways its just an example 4 u and like it was posted earlier u can get a 4 year warranty and they will replace ur stuff right then and there with the equipment in the store no waiting 4 products and install it 4 free trust me i know i got sand in my speakers from a lil accident and they replace them no problem!!! Hope this helps with ur decision!

For a basic install, do it yourself but make sure you have the proper tools, such as a wire cutter / stripper / crimper and butt connectors, caps, etc. For more extensive installs, such as a multi-amp system, 'glassed sub enclosure, etc, then pay for a professional install. I personally don't trust mass market stores. It's in the art of the labor - how cables are laid down, how things are hidden, etc - that really makes the difference. I've seen a Best Buy install in a friend's car and it's a mess "under the covers." On a quality install, everything is tidy, wires are loomed and so on. At the end of the day, however, it's probably going to come down to your pocketbook.
