In cabin sub??????

I dont have my car near by otherwise I would measure it...... But I was wondering if anyone makes a sub/amp combo that would fit under the seats of a evo8? Something like the infinity?

JVC, CLarion - Check crutchfield they list them under powered subs.

Not sure how good they are.

Most subs won't fit once you start building a 1 cu ft box around them for best sound.

Some very thin subs exist that will fit, but then you need the enclosure.

I have read some good advice here, but I din't see anything that would not add excessive weight and complexity to the car.

The JVC will fit, I put it under the passenger seat no problem, but I never powered it up, and I decided to return it due to problems with the sony MEX-1GP head unit, no idea how it sounds.

I'm working on an under seat fiberglass enclosure for the shallow mount subs. I will be posting picks soon of the progress.

can't wait to see pics. also sound quality??? I mean I want an under seat sub but if it sounds like crap then I'll stick with a trunk sub. I want actual feed back not ASSumptions on how it MIGHT sound

even the shallow mount woofers need normal sub airspace, i dont believe there is very much airspace under the seats, also, how would you fire this? up? i think this is a good solution for saving space, weight and keeping it stock, but i do believe that you would be sacrificing good sound. What is your reasoning for NOT using a woofer in the trunk? space?

My WRX had the under seat sub (option) and it provided all the additional bass I am looking for. Its tidy and out of the way as well.

My thinking behind it was that if it was in the cabin it wouldnt need to be as loud for me to be happy with it, and then you wouldnt hear it as much from the outside of the car.... Not rattling license plate and all the crap plus it saves space.

+1 for trunk space. most shallow mounts i've looked at only require .3 cf for air space, that's not that large of a box

I was thinking about the same thing. And i came up with some what of an idea. I think if you get two 8" subs, you can fit them IN the back doors and it might sound alright. Maybe someone has tried this?

I think that would cause a lot of rattles unless you covered everything in dynamat which Im not willing to do since its heavy and a pita to remove

Yeah, that is a problem. It gets me wondering how it would sound if you did it properly?

What about replacing the rear deck 6.5's with 2 8's? I know it's not technically "in the cabin" but would require minimal airspace. My other thought is putting 2 8's under the front seats.

well....... I measured under the seat, the best I could, and with the seat in place it appears to only have 4.5" from floor to bottom of seat. I can't see how you can get it to work with 3/4" mdf ??? maybe fiberglass??? maybe a trunk enclosure for me
