go to 99¢ store and buy a lil electric tester and spent about 5 seconds finding out.. because theres only two things it can be.. ground.. or power.. but looks like power.. but if you want to be sure test it with an electric tester..

Are you joking me... Power?!?!?

That is a Braided strap, ie.. LIVE WIRE if there is any current on it.. you'll melt down the entire car. It MUST be a grounding strap or a negative ground wire.

I'd help you out by looking at my friend's Evo7, but it's too damned cold outside to pull apart his housing to check.

Can you just look into the housing to check where it goes to seeing as it's not installed yet? If it is just bolted into the headlight housing, then it's probably just overkill. If it's part of the light bulb circuit, then you need to figure out if it fits the HID housings. I know the Evo7 didn't come with the HID stock, don't know about the JDM versions.

Dont worry I wouldnt go outside either. Winter sucks! Ya i grabbed a flashlight and followed it into the housing. It is screwed to the HID housing (like how most foglights are grounded out to themselves) So this is overkill and is unneeded or i should just ground it to be safe? Thanks for the responses

I'd ground it for kicks and giggles.. it's not hard to bolt it up to the frame right by the headlights.. unless that grounding strap is interfering with how that headlight is sealed.. I can't quite tell with that picture... if it is, then most likely it was designed to ground with something inside the cap.. which you don't have. I mean, you could hook it all up, if it doesn't work, then ground it.

Ya ill just make an extension so i can just unclip the wire if i need to remove.. The bad part about being in an accident is my car has been at the body shop for 3 minths.. The good part is I have $5,000 in aftermarket parts in my computer room! haha

I hereby name it the "WTF is this GD wire/strap with a spade terminal on it from Japan".

Definitely some type of ground strap. I would say just ground it to chassis ground if no one else can figure out what it's for.
