one thing to consider is that the V1 is fully upgradeable. If they release a new technology you can send your detector in and get it upgraded to new specs. It does cost money but is cheaper than needing to buy a new detector

i like my V1, the arrows are great and it has decent sensitivity... but the comparison about the Ka band worries me since the troopers all use Ka around here. The only thing I've disliked about the V1 is there not being any different light color between the different radar bands.

Another V1 fan here. It's paid for itself numerous times. The arrows and the fact that it is upgradeable really set it above the rest.

Dude, it's called a RADAR detector, not a COP detector..

Comn man... think...

It's for protecting yourself from speeding tickets, besides pacing you, radar/laser is the only way they can ticket you.

V1 fan here too

Beltronics merbed with Escort....the old escort 8500 is now another modle number. I suggest all of you interested in buying a radar dector go visit...Radar Roy's site...http://www.radarbusters.com/..he does Extensive testing.....I bought the Beltronics Rx650 for about $230 about 4 weeks ago. And I can tell you the range is amazing. I have owned many different brands thru the years and the range on this detector is wild.....no-way am I gonna get anymore tickets......but it's your money spend it the way you want to. I choose to do my own research and buy for what my needs were. I wanted to cover all my bases, all bands, instant on radar and range range range was what I was needing. The Bel Rx65 gives me the range to slow down when it goes off. All my friends that ride with me are astounded when that thing goes off like 3-4 miles up the road there is a cop...

Yep, I'll take my V1 to the grave with me too. The GF and I both got one and it's saved us countless times.

escort just released the 9500i with gps to false out door openers that operate the same frequency as k-band police guns but it's like $450 http://www.escortradar.com/9500i.htm
