IX RS into an VIII MR
I started this conversion on Tuesday and has taken me two days to remove the engine, trans, axles, suspension, shifter assembly, and engine harness from the '05. Yesterday, I started to dissect the engine harness, marking the ABS wires with zip ties, with hopes of using the two engine harnesses as one for the conversion. I am, now, overwhelmed, mentally fatigued, and starting to doubt my abilities. Is it even possible to make this work, and how, or should I just purchase a new harness with ABS. I will spend the weekend studying and comparing the two harnesses and hopefully come up with a solution to the "riddle" lying in the middle of my living room floor. Thank you for any help or advice that you can give me.

Thanks, ries, I needed that. I expected a not so complicated harness conversion until I removed the plastic and tape from the '05 harness and had a good look at everything. But, when I came across the AWD computer connects and realized that there were more wires in the non-ABS than in the ABS harness, the "oh ****" set in. I will spend the next few days fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and I will be taking the two harnesses with us just in case the fish are not biting.

Thanks, hacellular. I am on my way to go fishing.
griceiv - It is yours if I do not use it.
evoIX15 - I own a non-repairable '06 with no ABS and am implanting the engine and 5speed into my '05 with ABS to use as a mostly track car. So, either I remove the entire ABS system, brake lines, and axles from the '05 and replace them or I rewire or replace the engine harness.

^^^ LOL, yeah, me too. LOL
So far, I have everything marked and most all of the wires removed from their connectors. But, I am having trouble with the smallest terminals and with the joint connector C-105. I can't seem to remove these wires with the tools that I have and am wondering if they require special tools or technique. I bought a set of terminal release tolls from Snap-On(TT600), but are not very good for this job from what I can tell, so far. The release seems the same, but no luck, just yet. There is very little room to get something in the pin space and I can't seem to get any leverage to release the wires. I have been using a pair of tiny, very pointed scissors for the smaller terminals, but I have hit a wall, now that I am working on the smallest connectors. Thank you for any help that you can give.

All ABS and necessary terminals from the '05 harness and common terminals for the ACD from the '06 harness are free. The only tools that you would need to do the job would be a precision slotted screwdriver set from Radio Shack($5) or somewhere, that has a 1.0mm and a 1.2mm driver. (Mitsu calls for a .8mm and a 1.4mm.)
Yesterday, after everything was removed, I took a look in the '06 Service Manual at Joint Connector C-105 to see what goes where . I came to the conclusion that whenever you remove a wire from any connector, you should keep a record of the pin location just in case the manual and connectors don't match up. I, also, came to the conclusion that if a buddy goes over to your house while you are working on wire connectors and asks you if you would like to try something that is green and called Sensi Star, you should definitely tell him no.

assuming you resolve the ABS issue and successful swap the ABS in,
Will you basically just replace MR ECU over the IX ECU? So basically, you're just ditching the MIVEC engine...

I finished putting the engine harness back together on Friday, and yesterday, I spent the day cleaning the engine bay and test fitting the altered harness. At around 2:00am last night I finished installing the harness and the 5sp shifter and cables. If I have the time, I should be up and running by the weekend or at the latest by Sunday night. I tell you what, I was one happy mother ****er last night after the harness was installed. I starred at the engine bay and harness for about 30 minutes before going to sleep. I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to.
