BTW my car once started by itself.... kind of weird... has this happened to anyone else!?!?
If you accidentally activated timer mode or if there was a loose piece of metal floating around in the remote after you dropped it. Not the only ways that it can start by itself but probably are the two more common.

By the way, how did that cituation work out with you and the Toronto police?

I installed it myself and it was fairly easy for a first timer. It is an excellent product for manual transmission since it has a safety feature called "reservation mode" which will not allow you to start it unless it is done. DEI products were my first choice but the dealers will not install the RS or turbo timer because of insurance issues, blah blah. That is why I did the compustar and added 507t and 508d which is great

I've got the compustar 2WSSR with remote start on mine. Only gripe is occasionally the "reservation mode" screws up. Its supposed to stay running after you remove the key for 2 mins or until all the doors are closed, but sometimes it will shut off before I even get a chance to get out of the car (like 5 seconds). When that happens the car will not remote start unless you go through the reservation process again. Happens maybe 1 in 20 times.

The range is great though

don't lift the handbrake until you're ready to go out. As soon as you lift the handbrake, the reservation mode starts counting.
