Efficient Amplifiers
So what I'm planning on is putting a Alpine CDA-9885, 10" W6v2, and now I need a good mono-subwoofer amp. I want something efficient because I'm not looking to load my alternator. I was looking at the Alpine PDX-1.600, is this going to fit the bill? Is there a better amp in this power range for efficiency?
I would say that the PDX-1.600 would be just the ticket. I have a PDX1.1000 and a PDX 4.150 in my Evo with a small battery, and I'm having no problems. However, I make sure to never pump my sounds with the car off with that small battery.
PDX amps ROCK, they put out more than their advertised power, sound very good, and even the full-range PDX amps sound excellent. If you're looking to be decently loud without killing your alternator, the PDX amps are an excellent choice. They are very well reviewed, and some of the reviewers were very surprised just how efficient they really were. Another good aspect of these is they will easily fit under the front seats without sticking out the back at all no matter how far the seat is pushed up. Awesome for stealth installs like mine. I could not be happier.
Other good choices are some of the Eclipse and Xtant class D offerings.

The JL 500/1 works perfectly with this sub.
