gauges
I have seen several in the cubby hole (2 gauges)....the only drawback is they are not as easy to quickly glance at when in that location. Many prefer the stock radio location (can install 3 gauges here & easy radio relocation kit available) and/or the pillar.....

+1, the cubby hole/stock location for the MR gauges sucks (IMHO). You are much better off putting them in place of the radio and/or getting one of those pods that sits on top of the steering column like this:
