Whats a good alarm system?
I'm looking for a good alarm system for my Evo VIII. I know some people like the Vipers so please explain your reason. Are clifford or clarion any good? Dont forget to include the make and model of the unit. Thanks.
All three alarms you mentioned are the same product. An alarm's performance is based on teh quality of the install. look around the steering column of the installers car at whatever shop you visit to get an alarm. If you can tell there is an alarm installed go somewhere else...
A Viper is a Clifford, is an Ungo. They are identical products coming out of the same factory in China. If you are paying more for a Viper you are a fool, it is just a label on one of the about 10 brands that sell the same product. Directed considers Clifford their high end systems. I still say the install is EVERYTHING.

DEI/Directed Electronics manufactures the SAME EXACT THING just different names.. ex) python, viper, clifford. yes they do make other systems yet are not as good quality. I would stick with either one of the 3 i just mentioned. the install really is the main part to the system - aka crappy install - most likely you will have problems. good install - you may never have problems...

Because your just going to have to wait for the turbo timer to shut off so you can activate the alarm system. It wont let you just take the key out of the ignition, get out and close the door, and arm the alarm. So in the end i could have saved the money for the turbo timer and just sat in the car at idle for a minute or so and then walk out and arm it.
So just get one or the other, NOT both! Otherwise its going to be a real pain.

well i have the clifford and i hooked it up where i can set the timer and arm the car.....who did your install? there is a way to do it, so technically you didnt waste your money buying them, you wasted it on an incorrect install
No i was talking about getting an alarm and then a separate turbo timer such as greddy or hks. If you get the alarm that comes with the turbo timer then get that . I wish i would have done that, but im just so damn stupid
some of them come with a turbo timer option, but i have never messed with that or know how it works.
i just wired up mine to by pass the alarm to think that the engine is not running when the timer is on, so it can be armed.
