I got a pretty smokin' good deal at around $400 - I know a guy who knows a guy...haha. I think it was a display unit becaue it was in demo mode (in mint condition, though), but I have been running it for about 6 months without issue. I think you can find them for around $800 online?

The install was easy but I only did the main unit + GPS for nav. Of course the more of the add-ons you get the more you have to install + the cost goes up pretty quickly. With the addition of the backup camera you would have to run the wire all the way back and poke it out the *** somewhere (not impossible, just more work than I had to do).

Damn $400? I've been looking at the used ones on ebay, all the new ones are way over my budget. I think I'll just wait until I can afford it. I went to Best Buy yesterday and the only one they had was the N3 which was at a decent price. I'm thinking of just getting a little navigation unit and then getting a head unit that can do everything else like DVD and sat radio.

For a straight head unit I really like the Alpine CDA-9885 that I put in my truck. Very clean and one of the best ipod implementations + MP3 on CD, IMO. Alpine makes another model that has a better ipod implementation (9887, I think) but it doesn't have a disc drive and is another $100 more.

I don't have an ipod so I can't see past spending the money for an extra feature that I don't have. All I'm really looking for is Navigation and DVD capability.

Doesn't everyone have an ipod (j/k). There was another head unit I was looking at - single din that had a tiny color screen with nav. I think it was a JVC. Anyway, best of luck!

Thanks yahu, I guess I'll just have to keep looking. I think I saw that JVC you're talking about on frys.com. Its looks decent, although I'm starting to think that buying a portable nav unit and a dvd player would add up to be more than one that comes with all of it. I might as well buy an ipod too.
