Question Help me decide which in dash???

These are the two that fits my budget! I can only get in Best Buy so dont' suggest anything from circuit city.

Pioneer

I like the pioneer coz its so simple looking! I don't like to much button. but the Alpine has more features.
or

Alpine

Alpine. it has a higher S/N ratio. even though it has a lower RMS wattage rating, it will sound better than the Pioneer. the higher the S/N ratio, the more sound you will hear essentially, without having to overdrive the unit. they also have the same amount of voltage pre-output of 4v.

they both are Ipod ready, both have aux inputs-this is if you dont have an ipod and want to connect a Zune or any other mp3 player, both have SUB out controls with Xovers.

Alpine=1
Pioneer=0

Alpine is best at decks under $500 + less complicated to setup than the pioneer. pioneer is best suited for people who like to fine tune things hence the added complexity. Pioneer might "sound louder" but their decks also run hotter than Alpine. Unless you can get a pioneer Premier deck for that price i say go Alpine.

you should not rush into something if it's not what you really want. there are other places to get car audio gear cheaper than best buy. don't buy something "just bcuz u get the hookup".

here's an example of a price online for the same alpine deck(cda-9885):
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=17996

now as u can clearly see, they show the msrp to be $350 (bestbuy shows 299 + u gotta pay sales tax) but the bottom price is $248 + it's new, factory sealed & u get free UPS ground shipping! now if u wanted to spend a lil extra, say $328, u could step up to the CDA-9887 which is iphone compatible:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18480

my motto is if it weighs less than 50lbs, buy it online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

point is shop around bro. car audio stuff is a dime a dozen. y pay retail if u don't have to???

he get the hook up because he has a relative that works there. they pay COST plus 15-20% on most things other than computer stuff. trust me....i get the hook up also.

for example...i bought from a "insider" a rockford 300-1 monoblock amp. it was on "sale" for 299.99 his cost was 129.00. guess what i paid?? yes they are marked up that much. i even bought the extra warranty for 17 bucks so when it blows up, i get a new one in two years...mmuuuwwaaahahhaahaha!!!!

I have this alpine head unit and I love it. I've previously owned 2 pioneer units that i paid 450 each for but this 300 dollar alpine unit is treating me way better now and I love everything about it. I'll stick with alpine from now on.

I just bought the Alpine 9883 this last weekend. I believe it is on sale for $169 right now at Best Buy. I think that the only difference between it and the 9885 is the screen. It was pretty easy to install with the wiring harness. I ran an Ipod cable to my glove box. I was told that the Ipod controls were much easier on the Alpine units than on the Pioneer. Liking it so far.

Good luck

Can you take a picture installed in your evo?
I just want to see what Alpine looks like...coz it has more buttons than Pioneer and it may look to busy on the dash.
