Bypass Clutch for Remote Start

I just installed the viper 791xv remote start on my Evo and I was wondering if anybody could give me detailed instructions on how to bypass the clutch. Whats the easiest way? I would do a search but I'm using my iPod touch at work. Thanks guys.

Easiest way? Just pull the plug on your clutch.

Just test things out while you are in the drivers seat. I tried installing a kill switch on my clutch pedal, and with the switch "open" or activated, the car would still start...in gear or not. Just don't want you to send your ride into a garage door, or curb....I did use the upper plug tho....good luck.

is it on the clutch pedal itself or is it on the fuse box or something? sorry for the stupid question, but i just dont wanna unplug the wrong plug because if the remote start doesnt work i want to eliminate that as a possibility. will i still need to press the clutch when i start the car normally?

you can install a relay on the clutch switch, that closes contact when the remote start is engaged- you MUST also wire this relay to activate only when the e-brake is engaged.

the plug is right by the clutch....you wont mistake it i promise. it should be connected to the little rubber stopper that the clutch hit when you press it in. that rubber switch is what tells the car that the clutch is down....

The e brake will not stop the car. Even if you cranked up the e brake as hard as you can, the car still goes forward.

It is still better than nothing.

I have a remote start on my IX. Apparently there are 2 switches on the clutch pedal that had to be bypassed. There is a switch at the top and bottom that had to be bypassed. My alarm guy figured out eventually. It was a pain though. Also, about the starting it in gear. With the alarm that I have, there are a few steps you have to do to insure that the car is not going to start in gear. The car has to be running, in neutral and you can not be touching any of the pedals. Hit the button on the remote and turn the key off. The car will stay running until you close the doors and hit the arming button. This prevents starting it in gear.

Your alarm guy was WRONG!!! There is one switch that has to be energized or should I say interrupted. So he lied to you. I also used a SPDT relay to do it. I'm guessing you have a Compustar or something like that. I wish Dei would just make an alarm unit that was designed for manual trannies. Hate that they have to be used with the 689M if you want that protection.

yup...just unplug the little wire that goes right above the clutch pedal...and turn the key.....but BE VERY CARE FULL that its not in gear!!! but if you have a turbo timer, this shouldn't be a problem.

You can use a diode and run the black/white to the ebrake also.

Neutral saftey needs to see a ground and the ebrake completes a ground when engaged.
