Gps-snitch - "gps Locator"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just got this GPS locator for my car and liked it so much I figured i would post a review of it.
Product: GPS-SNITCH
Cost : $399.00
Added Cost : Monthly tracking fee varies on Plan selected. [I chose 15$]
Power: L-ion battery lasts up to 7 days.
Size: 3-1/2 inches wide and 4 inches long.
Options: Hard Wire Kit or Car Charger
Accuracy: Within about 5-10 feet
Cust Service: Best I've had from any company to date, and thats saying alot.
Alerts: Via Email and TEXT message to your PC or Cell phone.
My first impressions was, that it's a little pricey at 400$ but I thought it was worth it, to know where my car is at all times.
I have the Viper 791VX 2way alarm which is nice but can be bypassed if the thief knows anything about alarms.
DEI/Viper has an add-on GPS locator thats plugs into the 791VX alarm but it's expensive and monthly plans are rididculously expensive.
After reading a few posts about Evo's recently getting stolen a little peace of mind was well worth the 400$+
Install is easy, just charge it and turn it on, then hide in car somewhere.
Or you can Hard Wire it to your car so it's always active/charged.
Once you ARM it, it will alert you via Text or Email that your car has moved.
I moved it 1 foot and it alerted me within 5 seconds.
Best part of it is, Is that you can track it from any PC or your cell phone and ARM/Disarm from your cell phone also.
Only 2 cons that i have:
1. You have to turn it on manually but can turn off remotely via PC / Cell phone.
2. It's not waterproof, so wherever you hide it has to be dry all the time.
Other than that , I recommend it to everyone that likes to know exactly where there car is 100% of the time within 10 feet.
I'm not gonna post a link to their site, in case admins dont want advertisement here.
Just google "GPS-Snitch"

Just google "GPS-Snitch"
Good little bit of info. On the manual turn on, is it just a switch? If it is, you can stuff it where ever, and extend the wires of the switch to have it really where ever you want. Obviously it would need to be in a hood hidden place.
Edit:
I was just reading their site and it says that it can be turned on/off via cell?
"Text your Snitch unit to arm or disarm it, locate it, and turn pet mode on"

I was looking at that, but was sceptical because they dont have alot of info on how big it is, what it looks like ect. Seemed kinda fishy to me. I know they do that so people wont get familier with it though, seems safe. Something I may have to look into, thanks for the review.

There are a few other similar brands I found also when I was researching them.
The manual turn on is a button with a green led.
you just hit the button and it blinks, telling you it's looking for GPS/GSM network.
When it stays green it is connected.
then you just hide it.
The Arm/Disarm of the motion/perimeter sensor can be turned on via Cell/PC, but not the main power.
You "can" turn it OFF via Cell/PC but not "ON".
Don't know why, you just cant turn it ON, only OFF.
Would be cool if they'd add that feature.
Also, one side note..
this uses GSM network also, not just GPS, so it's like a redundant system.
Kinda handy if you dont get good gsm coverage where you are.
It's pretty small, it's a little bigger than my GF's Razr.
You can hide it in very small places..
Not tryin to promote them, just relaying my experience with it.
my opinion: It's worth it.
If you wanna try a diff. brand go ahead, but it's nice to know this one works.
