lol i coulda told you that. I will be very impressed if you manage to squeeze some 8"s in there without A LOT of fab work. Kicker Solo Baric 8"s might work but I doubt it.

You have to keep the thickness of the wood in mind and 8"s will require a whole lot more air space and the box will most definitely go deep into the trunk. And at that point you might as well put a box in the trunk. I'm pretty sure some experienced shops could make it work or put the 8s in the rear deck. But thats way out of my experience level.

Edit: 1 Kicker Solo Baric 8" should work but it'll be a very tight squeeze

Well you know I'm gonna be biased. But I think it sounds awesome. It hits hard enough to make all my mirrors vibrate and I can feel it. Of course some Hz aren't that loud because the woofer is only 6.5" but I'm more than happy with it. If anything I'll probably upgrade the amp and subs but thats way down the road. This will probably be a permanent set up in my Evo.

Final sanded and carpeted pics should be up in a few days.

I really wish I could hear what yours sounds like. Although yours looks 10x cooler than mine I think it really limits the speakers you can use

I just got finish rounding off edges and putting some carpet on mine and its almost flush with the backseat.

MANNN i dont know why but i have always wanted a bunch of 8" subs in my car. (if i had them i would be starting this same project) A+ for innovation.

A rough measure on my opening was 18x6x8 ... give or take some space & with magnets id guess 1 cu ft?

EDIT: L7 8" ers are 8&13/16ths wide with a minimum required sealed volume of .33cuft (sounds like a go!!)
