How did you get the pillar trim off? I tried rotating / pulling the trim piece as shown here http://www.evolution-8.com/howto.php , but without any luck. Do you start at the top and pry with a small screw driver?

Pull off the rubber trim between the pillar and the door, then just pull out kinda down and towards the seat. The clips will probably come off the plastic so you'll need to pull those out and put them back on when you put it back together.

How did you connect to the battery ? I need to find a different eyelet (4awg) to fit the stock battery configuration.

I just ran the bolt that tightens the terminal to the battery post through my ring terminal. Kinda janky I know, but it worked until I moved my battery to the trunk.
