I thought the difference in antenna's is the number of wraps the wire inside makes? Correct me if I am wrong but you could effectively have a 9 foot antenna inside of an 8 inch antenna. Maybe thats the problem with the "other" antenna's. I have a few years experience with Ham radio antenna's and seems that almost all of them have a section of wrapped mast. Thanks for reading.

I had a S2000 antenna on my 03' 8 and it worked fine. Thought I'd try something different this time around since it was a different car. Looks good, but the reception sucks.

just ordered the 4" perrin. my RC car looking goofy OEM antenna bites the big one as it is - stations you can hear 75 miles out of the city in wife's car are gone by around 40-50 miles with this stock crap - this may have something to do with the high quality OEM head unit...but I am no expert.
stock: bad reception + goofy look
perrin: likely same reception + smoother look

now that i think about it - a friend has an S2000..............haha! i might just do it for fun!

Perrin antenna looks cool but even the 4" length has crap reception. I use a less stylish S2K antenna that works as well as the stock antenna.

Bump.

A good thread I had seen a while back and just searched for because wanted to decide between the 2" and 4". I went with the 4".

I have the Perrin 4" shorty antenna. I honestly haven't ever used the radio (only cd's) so I cannot testify for the reception

dose using OEM honda/acura antennas really give better quality? I used to have an rsx and I realized now with my evo (stock antenna) than my FM reception is noticably worse.

I actually kinda use my radio a lot, especially for early talk radio on my morning commute, so it'd be nice to improve my reception power. Hm....

No. I've tried a number of antennas, including the S2000. IME, stock works best.

I have a S2000 looks great. Way better then the factory flag pole

I have not really listened to terrestrial radio in probably 10 years. Factory radio came out the day I bought the car. HU and Sirrius went in so I couldn't really even tell you if reception suffered

Got the 4" a few months back, it looked alot better than the stock fishing pole one. but i did notice some loss in reception. i got a little annoyed at that so i bought a cheesy CF from rexpeed.

http://www.rexpeed.net/new2007/produ...php?serial=108

got the same short look, but i can put it back up for those long trips to the track and get the same stock (better) reception.

Just throwing this out as a possible alternative. They make powered windsheild antennas like this one.
Antenna
If it's worth the money you could use the perrin for looks and not have it connected and use this instead. This can mount hidden behind the rearview or even behind an a-pillar. This is powered and gets very good reception from the ones I put in. Best of both worlds for another $40.
