Concealed Radar Detector

Hello,
I am interested in purchasing a radar detector and would like it to be as stealth as possible. I have stumbled upon a couple of detectors that mount the antenna in the front grill and then have a small rectangle box for the display. Does anyone have any personal experience with these types of radar detectors. Something like this http://www.buyradardetectors.com/pro...-pro-3450.aspx I dont want to invest in a product that is not going to work. I would purchase a V1 or an 8500 however im in a situation where i need it to be completly discrete. Any advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have been waiting to hear about the Escort 9500ci
http://www.escortradar.com/9500ci.htm
I wish they had a version without the laser shifters, which I believe are illegal in California.

Any particular reason why it needs to be so discreet. I know the V1 sells the small display add-on, so you can mount the actual detector on the windshield, but no lights) and then have the display more in the cabin. With how many people have detectors, gps, etc mounted to their windshield these days, I don't think its a big deal to have it up there.

Well the truth is that my parents do not want me to have a radar detector. Im not planning on use it to speed all the time but the fact of the matter is that i own an evo with a big wing that tends to be a cop magnet. So basically im looking for an affordable radar detector(probably under $300) with the same performance as the V1 or ascort 8500 RX65 etc.

Hide it in the trunk when you're not driving. Unless you're driving around with your Mom all the time, you can take it out when needed.

well theres also insurance to worry about, so I guess if your big into the speeding and you want the best of the best which *I hope* would never fail for that price, then I guess it just might be worth it. Me, I'd rather blow money in mods.

Its not about how much it costs. Thats a whole different topic haha. They just dont want me to have one. I figured i could just hardwire one of those detectors that mount the antenna in the grill and then just mount the box over my steering column. I plan to put an electronic boost controller there also so i could probably disguise it. Also mount an activation switch that way i can turn it off whenever there in the car with me? I just figured this way would be better off than setting it up and taking it out of my car every time i use it.

Has anyone had any success with any of these tyoes of detectors?

+ having a radar detector is a convenience factor also. 2 months ago i got pulled over for doing 40 in a 30. I got a warning luckly but that is now my 3rd warning since getting my liscence 2 years ago. I just want to have some type of advantage over the popo.

thats me too, i got plenty other things to spend 1600 dollars on, if ur gettn that many tickets that its hurtn ur pocket that bad, or u feel the need to have all that installed on your vehicle, maybe try this, dont speed, or just dont drive, cause either way, cop will still give u a ticket, they dont always have to have a radar on u anyway, they can just pace u and still pull u over, or they use the planes over head and radio to the patrols on the ground to which car was speeding

your not going to find a radar detector with the same performance as a V1 or escort 8500 RX65 for under $300. performance and cost go hand in hand.

You can purchase all three of those for about 300 bucks. Anyways the reason for this post is for me to get some feedback from someone who has dealt with a concealed radar detector before or if anyone can think of something clever for my situation. Im not looking for any sarcastic remarks. I appreciate all of the advise and keep em coming
