IPod with stock HU?

Is it possible to put a Ipod hookup on the factory headunit? Sorry if this question has been asked before but I just picked up a 06 Evo 9 MR and I would really like to use my Ipod just like I have in my Integra... Any info is appreciated.

You could use a wired fm modulator. Honestly even picking up a head unit with the ipod capability isnt that expensive and will be much less of a problem. The newer model Alpine head units include the ipod connect cable in the box at no extra charge. The built in cable will charge the ipod as well and all while it sits in your glove box. There are products out from peripheral but they are only for units that have serial or other proprietary connections such as the new Honda,Acura,Toyota, BMW,Saab and such systems that have factory amplifiers on the older GM's with RDS the systems worked with that factory system to control the ipod. So to sum it up the only way for the evo is either the wirless fm which I do not recommend or ther wired fm modulator but My opinion would be to go check out some head units that have this feature.

You can buy an ipod adapter from the factory for your stock head unit. It plugs into an empty spot in the back of the HU and you control the ipod through the controls on the HU.

With prices so low for even a decent a headunit, I don't know why someone wouldn't upgrade to a better headunit that will offer better ipod integration....but hey if you like the stock stereo for one reason or another, more power to ya

No there really is one of these iPod adapters. 500whp.com sells them. They are pretty pricey but it looks very stealth as most people won't break into an evo to steal the stock stereo and they won't know if you have an ipod in there. I have a wired fm transmitter and ground loop/engine noise like a mother ****er. I'm ready to get a new head unit with cable when I get some extra cash.

Thats the point why I dont want a new stereo. On my street one night 1 civic and 2 accords got their radio stolen. And these people are my neighbors so those thieves came very close but I geuss they had nothing to take from the evo.

I've had my entire system stolen out of a Honda and it has not deterred me. In fact, my systems have become more and more elaborate....I have just added higher and higher levels of protection each time. A good alarm is going to deter your run of the mill smash and grab, which is what most people that are looking to steal a stereo are trying to do. I have no qualms running an aftermarket headunit (I just take the face off and bring it inside) and you can't visually see any of the other components if you look in the car....plus the big blue LED for my alarm is very apparent night and day.

I bet that is only for the infinity head units even though it does not list that, even so 169 you can get a decent head unit and depending on which unit 29.99 gets you the ipod cable or is included in some models. Whatever you choose its up to you but the aftermarket unit will be much easier to navigate the ipod.

Note that the $31.69 is just the harness and the adaptor is $158.69.

Do they make one that is cheaper and is just a basic stereo mini-jack input?
