I heard "Search Audio Devices" is a really good company. Not too expensive either, except it takes a while to get through the documentation.

They must only exist in Slovenia, never heard of em here...

Anyway, I LOVED my JL stuff in the Evo. And being that I had a friend get... a little too carried away w/ the volume in the Porsche, I'm gonna need to get some new front speakers in that car too. Likely gonna be JL again. And then I know I'm gonna get convinced to buy an amp.

I think Polk SRs are really good for the money (ebay anyways), but you better have an eq of some sort and an amp. That's my choice. How much money is too much?

Best way to find out is to go to the store and listen to them. What we like and think sounds good might be completely different than what you think. Only way to tell is to listen.

I prefer the Boston acoustics. But as someone already said its personal preference. Boston are warmer more bass and mids. Jl are bright and have very sharp highs. I like em both. Boston wins by a hair.

There is no "best." It all depends greatly on the person's audio perception, the amp powering the speakers, the car the speakers are in and of course don't forget bias. It's going to be all opinions when it comes to a subject like this so like someone else said you're gonna have to listen to different speakers yourself. And price is a huge factor.

I've heard nice sounding JL's, Infinity Kappa Perfects (in my brother's Supra), Alpine Type R's (in my brother's old Integra), Focal's, MB Quarts (in my old truck), etc, etc. Hell my brother even had a set of Infinity Reference components powered by a nice Infinity amp and they sounded pretty damn good for the price in his Impreza.

Components are the way to go. A good set of components up front with some mid drivers in the rear powered by a decent 4 channel amp should work pretty well.

Hand down if you have the money I would go Focals, If you're looking to spend a little less MB Quarts, EVEN LESS go with diamond audio hex editions

^^+1.

If you have a custom shop close by just go and listen for yourself.
There is nothing under $1000 that can come close to Focal K2P
you get to hear stuff that you never heard before from the same song you listen to everyday.

Even the Focal Polyglass, the $300 set sound better then JL $900 component system. Its allways better to over power the component, rather then under power them, Just set the gain lower.
