Best Alarm System for Evo's?

So to go straight to the point, I'm moving cross country in a few weeks. I want to have a good alarm installed and I was hoping to have my audio/electronics guy do it back home, but now I realize I want the security for the trip.

What are some of the BEST systems available? I would like something that even includes a tracker. There was one back home I was looking at but I can't remember what it was. I'm thinking of installing a lojack to, but not sure. I like when the systems have all the goodies to like controlling windows and what not from the outside of the car.

Random question, anyone ever done or heard of an automatic starter being installed on an Evo? I know some places won't "do" it because it's a manual, but most can be persuaded around it. Thoughts?

Thanks for the advice guys.

I have the Viper 791XV right now and I like it alot..
It has the GPS tracking, remote start, windows, etc. etc..

They have a new one out called the Viper 7900 with a color display thats pretty cool.

Most installers will not hook up the remote start for liability reasons, but you can find ppl that will..
it's cool and all, but I dont wanna leave my car in neutral with the parking brake on all the time. Can roll away too easy, especially in a hilly area.
up to you though.

good luck, do your homework..

Viper has one better then the 7900, go to vipers site and look up the Viper 5901. It's really new, 2 way paging, built in manual tranmission safety for remote start. You can also get add on window mods, part number DEI 530T. Just put the alarm and 2 window mods this weekend. The remote start is great but it is tricky to learn the safety feature. You have leave the car running, press remote start on key fob, put the car in neutral, press foot on brake, pull e-brake, let foot off brake pedal and then open the door and close it. It will now remote start as long as the door isn't opened or the alarm has gone off. It seem like alot but it works well and you get the hang of it quick. Also has built in turbo timer.

Who, pray tell, is competent enough in St. Louis to entrust with your car to do an install?

I know of only one shop in STL that I would trust, but you need buckets of moola to afford them...though you do get what you pay for.

Make sure you buy from an Authorized dealer though, so you can have some type of warranty.

hi,

do you have a white Ix with black nt01-3's with robi spec decals? saw you at the pump on grand avenue wed around 2pm.

I dont have an alarm in my evo but my 2nd vehicle is a 2007 cadillac escalade. i just had a Viper 5005 alarm installed with prox sensor, tilt sensor, back up siren and back up battery, and shock sensory with 2 way paging installed at audio express on manchester. dis this a month or so a go. pretty flawless.

the caddy has pretty extensive electronics and is a complex car to put a comprehensive alarm in. so far it works great and ive had no problems. you can give them a shot.

No, you saw 'spraa'. Mine is mostly out around the Fenton area. It's white...duh...but it has 17" Advan RS's and CF Bumper ducts and lip, also riding on a full RobiSpec suspension...best money spent!

Always been suspicious of the "Home of the $1 install..." I'll wait to see how it holds up with time. Keep us all updated.

Actually the only person I trust with my car is myself. But Car Audio / Alarms / Remote Starts is what I do for a living. The only person other them me to every touch the car is AMS. They did my clutch and cams and after the great results they game me I would tow the thing up there anyday to avoid letting someone in town work on it.

I just did an alarm on a 07 Denali yesterday but I did a Viper 3902T. It's a Can bus data alarm that works with the factory keyfob but has all the features of an aftermarket. Should be that same as an Escalade. Only needed 5 wires to be hooked up.

Clifford AvantGuard 5.1 also has remote start/gps tracking capabilities. Have a friend who works for Directed Electronics, who did the install on my old srt-4, put the G4 in it, remote start, windows, tilt, glass break, proximity, etc. The G5 also has a new remote, which has an LED on the top that will tell you if your car is armed/unarmed.
