Pick a 12 that you like. Most SQ 12s will need a cubic foot or more of airspace. You will need to get some "polyfill" (pillow stuffing) and stuff the box. .94 is a little small once you figure in the space the woofer takes up itself (displacement). Will it work in that space, Yes, but it's a little small if you're looking for SQ.

I have always used rockford fosgate amps and subs to great success. The subs can handle huge amounts of power and their amps cant be beat for reliablility and clean power. Another good sub are Infinity- the reference series. I put a 10 in my wife's escort and it pounds louder than a lot of 12's --1020W handling will do that. In the end it all comes down to what you can afford and your own personal preference.

Maybe rockford amps are better now than they were a while ago. We used to get their amps back fried all the time.

what are the specs of your custom box? you can't just put any sub into any box.

their amps were decent and heavily underrated but their punch power series back then sucked soo bad. to use them for SQ was an embarrassment

This is what i went with. The enclosure isnt heavy, the bass isnt too overbearing, the trunk doesnt rattle, and it mounts with no holes to drill. Check them out...

That's too bad, I just put my system up for sale, it meets all of your needs. It's the perfect fit audio integrations enclosure with an alpine type r 10" sub. Not too loud, light box, clean sound and mounts like it came from the factory. Box, sub, amp and wiring all included. Check out the thread

ill take a pic of it in a second
you should really go to an car audio shop and find some subs that will match your .94 cubic foot chamber. that would be the best way to go.

I prefer a ten sub with amped speakers. If you listen to mostly rock or something that needs more definition in music I think this setup is the way to go. imop

everyone likes the sound of different setups...like said ealier i think you need to go to a shop and check out some stuff...thats a small box...i have one 12inW7 and that thing is amazing for sound quality...hell it beats most other setups in spl in the same class with the sealed box...although i do still have the wedge box made by JL just for it...its up to your ear and your box for sure tho!

Not that it's a bad idea, but I'm pretty sure any shop will tell you their subs will work better with .94 ft^3 when just about any woofer will "work". I don't think you'll be happy with the sound of your subs with that small of an enclosure. Once you figure the space that a woofer takes up you'll have even less space. JL 12w3s, for example, take up .07 ft^3, so you're enclosure will effectively be .87 ft^3. A 12w7 would make it .8 ft^3. For X woofer, smaller the enclosure = more power handling, less low freq. extension, "tighter" (harsher imo) bass; bigger enclosure = lower power handling, deeper low freq. extension, and smoother, more natural bass.

Trust me, if you're looking for a clean, not boomy sound, you need to stuff that box with some polyfill to effectively make your enclosure bigger.

If nothing else, get whatever you want, put it in your box as built, and listen to it for a week or so to get used to it. Pull the woofers and put a little less than a half pound of stuffing (each side) into the box, and try that out and see what you like better.
