Some alarm install quesitons...

I'm installing an alarm with remote start in my VIII and had a couple questions I couldn't find good answers too.

First off for the remote start, I know I need to get a bypass module for it to work but what one am i actually supposed to use? Is there a universal one I can use? How do you wire it up?

For the tach wire, I've seen there's pretty much 2 options for wiring this one up. Either from the coil or behind the gauge cluster. Isn't there a tach signal wire from the ECU? What color/pin is it? What color is the wire for tapping behind the gauge cluster?

Hood/Trunk switch: Is there a place to tap the trunk signal at other then in the trunk? I read on here that there's a green wire near the driver's kick panel for this but it wasn't clear which one or where it was exactly.

Parking Light Output: all the wiring diagrams say "Parking Lights+ grn/yel (L), grn/wht (R)" and its at the white plug at the bottom of the fuse box. Is the plug they're talking about the white one on the right side of the fust box towards the bottom, or the one under the fuse box that's not actually attached to it? I can't find both wires either, can I just connect the one wire from the alarm harness to one of the parking light wires?

Thanks!

There's a universal bypass, but you have to sacrifice your spare key, or get another one made. There's PKU-MIT that doesn't require you to sacrifice your key. That's the way I'd go. You can also disable the immoblizer via ecuflash, but you lose that level of security in doing so. Wiring it depends on the bypass.

Both options are "tach signals" from the ecu. It's green behind the gauges. You should be able to find it at the ecu also.

The only place you can get the trunk signal is in the trunk at the light. It's whatever wire that goes to ground when the trunk is open. It's green/orange.

My car didn't have both parking light wires. The info I have says it's green/white and in the plug behind the kick panel.

This might help a little also. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...t=alarm+wiring

I dont know if this would be easier or help, but i got my tach signal from one of the fuel injector wires under the hood.

Thanks for the quick answers. Where would I start to look for the PKU-MIT bypass?

One last question about the bypass... I was looking at the manual and it says to program it I need to put one key into the ignition for 5 seconds and remove it, then put in a second key for 7 seconds. What if I only have one key? Can I just use the same key twice or will it only work with 2 different keys? I only got one when I bought the car.

You need to have 2 keys to properly program the bypass. I sent you a pm.
