Can someone suggest an amp?

I have no clue really about anything audio, but i have a single sony 10" sub, 1100w peak power, 300w rms and an alpine w505 HU. I was told I need a 2 channel 250-300w rms amp? just wanted to confirm here and see if anyone can make a suggestion from this link (have a friend who can get it for me at best buy)....it doesnt have to be the best thing on earth, just reliable and wont crap out on me. TIA!

are you planning to run more than one sub in the future? if not you can go with a mono channel amp. also do you want to be the same brand all around? if not i would go with alpine or fosgate. that's just me though. also is the sub 2ohm or 4ohm. that will depend on which amp also.

Nope, just the one sub, i just want a little extra in the bass department, nothing too heavy, just something that hits quick enough with my music..

Sorry, the amp is 4ohm, is it cheaper to get the 2 channel and bridge it, rather than the mono? I dont care about it being the same brand, just whatever is a decent price and good quality...

A mono amp can run more then one sub, it just depends on how their wired and what load thye show to the amp. A mono sub amp is typically cheaper then a 2 channel amp with the same amount of power, but because there are so many brands out there its hard to cross shops. Some brands are cheap, some are good. What is your budget for this amp?

That's pretty cheap, but you can get maybe 200x1 from MTX or Orion for that. Look at crutchfield.com if you don't see anything at Best Buy you like.

It will work, but that's one of those budget brands that I would avoid. There's no way your going to get 1100watts for $85. It of course is talking about peak power, not RMS. More respected brands quote/name their amps based on RMS power.

I like Rockford-Fosgate amps, but I've also had great results with US Amps, JL Audio and Phoenix Gold.

You can buy RF at Best Buy, but I think they will be out of your budget. From what I understand an ex RF engineer went to MTX and their amps came up in quality drastically, so you may find one of their amps that will do the job nicely.

if you have a buddy that works at best buy then you should be ok with that budget. that's if he can get the discount. my cousin got me an old 601s and two p3 subs all with service plans for like 400 or so. what is the model on the sub?

as stated above though i wouldn't go with that power acoustic amp either. they don't put out what they should.

Just don't get you're friend fired by doing something dumb like take the amp back and trying to exchange it for something else.
