AUX Cable for Stock SSL Headunit
AUX Cable for Stock SSL Headunit
Hello all,
Well It has been a long time since I have posted anything regarding adding things to my Evo, but the Spring has come and I think I am pretty set on keeping my toy.
I am planning a road trip in the near future, and was curious if Mitsubishi has a AUX-in cable for the stock Infiniti SSL headunit? I thouhgt I remembered Mitsu offering it in a catalog, but I really dont want to go through the dealer on this one.
I dont need Ipod specific features, just an wire that will go into a standard headphone jack.
I searched and didnt turn up much.
Thanks for any help you all can give me.

Just to follow up on this since no one had anything to add...
I went and got my oil changed at the dealer I bought my OZ Rally from in '01 and my Evo in '05, since I had a free oil change coupon from Mitsu. I learned at that time that the dealer would be closing that location, and moving staff to other dealers. I actually somehow scheduled my oil change on the last day of operation.
Anyhow, I just happened to ask the service manager about an aux connector for the stock radio (because I swore there was one at one point) and he went to the parts desk with me and we did some research. It turns out they have an Ipod specific connector that plugs into the port normally reserved for the CD changer. I asked how much, and they gave me a price of $200. I laughed, but then they said since they were trying to get rid of everything they could give me the one they had in stock for $135. I said sure, why not.
So I came home, did some work, and installed the adapter. It was an easy install, and I was surprised I still remembered how to take apart the dash. (Learned on the OZ, had to re-learn with the Evo to do gauges, radio relocation, etc) It seems to work pretty well, but I want to spend some time finalizing where to mount some items in the glove box.
The units model # is MZ607411EX (V-900IP-U), below is an ebay add for similar units:

Anyhow, some might question why I spent $135 bucks when I could have gone and got a decent stereo at Best Buy for around the same price. First off, I like the stock head unit's look. It blends well with the dash. Second, going this route I didn’t have to get any extra harness cables. Third, I didnt need to buy a Mitah cable to keep the Infinity sub and amp working. I have issues with the Mitah cable, mainly no one can give me a straight answer if once installed can you control the sub independantly of the rears?
So I stuck with the stock head unit for the time being, and now I have the ability to use my Ipod in the car. Just thought I would add this response in case anyone in the future stumbles on this thread. In regards to the aux (not Ipod specific) adapter, if it exists the dealer did not have the part number.

Please excuse my noob question. I'm importing my Evo IX MR into Canada and haven't gone down to pick it up yet nor look at it. Does the Evo IX MR have an AUX jack that you can just plug that 3.5mm AUX cable into?
