Praxis Development Double Din/ HVAC Kit

Hey Evo World,

Just wanted to start to get the word out there. This is the first public announcement about the development of this product. I am starting my own company named Praxis Development, we will be focusing, firstly, on evo and sti products. Interior to start. Our first project is going to be a Double Din/ HVAC Kit for all your evo's. I know Orbital stopped production and no one really makes one now, other than the Mitsubishi part in which there is no HVAC solution. Our product is going to be a full swap kit in which allows your climate controls to bolt right in and snap directly to your lower dash. Currently my ideas are to offer 3 different choices.

-Carbon Overlay or Full Carbon Peice-
-Textured to match ABS plastic-
-ABS plastic with genuine Alcantara wrap-

Lead time for this is going to be about a moth and a half at best. We are going to work our hardest to have this as close to an OEM fit product as possible. I have spent a lot of time at my fathers factory as a child up to this past summer. I will be traveling to the factory in order to insure the product is top notch. For now i would just like to get some comments or suggestions on the product. We would like to incorporate what the evo/sti/tuner community wants in their products. So, with that said, i would love to hear anything you have to say about the idea.

I am not usually on the evo forums because i have always owned a slowbaru and just envied the evo that kicks my *** in the Malibu Canyons You can check me out on NASIOC as well, i have been on there for a long time and spend a lot of my day checking things out. My screen name is the same jeremy25056.

I would like to thank you in advance for any comments or suggestions that are left, each one will be read and taken into consideration in the development of this product. I am very excited to get this off the ground and to offer the evo's an easy solution to their double din issues.

-Jeremy Young-Smith

Praxis Development

P.S.- If there are any other ideas in which someone has that there is enough interest in, we are always open for brand new custom projects.

sounds good bro, will you be selling the HVAC rolocation alone or you would need a whole kit? if you were to be selling the HVAC relocation piece i would definetly be interested if the price is right. considering i have already dont a double din but my hvac is soso do keep us informed i know alota people would be interested and no one wants to get ripped off by some of the other members trying to sell a orbital kit for 500 bucks

My initial idea was to only sell the product as a two piece kit. Sounds like there would be quiet a few people who would be interested in just the HVAC portion. I will take that into consideration when i place the order for these to go into production. As far as pricing goes, the orbital kit was over priced in our opinion. Not absolutely off the map but they were definitely pushing it. Depending on how the development of this product goes, our mission is to make the price more reasonable for a higher grade product with carbon or Alcantara finishes. Thanks for your input sir, Jeremy Young-Smith.

Hey, take a look at what i replied to donmeca2020. We are currently undecided of what the exact price will be (as we're still in the first stages of product development) but we are working hard in order to make the product obtainable to a broad market of clientele.

any chance on making a kit to mount a double din in the lower section? that way you wouldn't have to mess with relocating the hvac controls.

Hey, that is something that i have been thinking about for a while. but always thought that the 2DIN up top would be a much more user friendly place to have it. Instead of in front of the the shift knob. Any feed back would be great. Also if interests shows to having that portion done as well. i can make that happen. Thanks for your input!

I would say try to match the abs plastic. the only place to get a double din piece is japanparts and that doesnt include the hvac relocation. I have talked to a couple people on here about buying their custom made relocation pieces and I would say try to stay under $200 or around that area

Glad to hear that there is interest in this product. Looks like the finish would be ABS as of now.

I am going to try and get the match as close as possible. As said before, the price has not been decided yet but I am trying to make it as affordable as possible. Anyone have an exact price as to what the Orbital Kits were going for when they were selling them?

Thanks for the input,

An update on progress-

Factory samples were sent out to my fathers engineering office to begin development on the double din/HVAC kit. From the time they arrive I should have the first sample back with in a month. From there i will test fit the product into several of my friends evo's in order to confirm that the fitment is top notch. From there any adjustments will be made and the first order will be placed. At this point the best i can give you guys as a time frame is about two months till they will go up for sale. I am working on a website at the moment where they can be purchased.

If you have any ideas that you have floating in your head, let me know now so i can incoorporate them into the final product.

Thanks again guys,
Jeremy Young-Smith

My feeling at this point is that we will have a carbon wrapped piece and a ABS matched texture piece. I can assure you i will be doing everything in my power to make sure this product has the best fitment possible.

Thank You,
