Can adding a new transponder key mess up other electronics?
Hi! Hopefully I'm posting on the right forum..
I've had a 2005 Evo MR for about a week, I had a 2004 STI for the previous 131,000 miles.
I know next to nothing about evo's so here I go...
I bought an extra transponder key to go with my second remote key fob so I have 2 sets.
I saw the procedure to synchronize or add the transponder key on the site and decided at this point, with my knowledge I'd have the dealer do it. The quotes for the key + synchronizing ranged from $85 to $200 at a dealership.
The dealer had a bit of trouble adding the new key then finally got the new key and FOB working.
On my drive home I now had a Low oil pressure light (Oil Can) show up when idling (I would have noticed that before) and my water temp gauge which is a separate mitsubishi temp gauge in a 3 gauge cluster didn't seem to work at all now, the other 2 gauges in the cluster seem to work fine.
I called and left a message with the dealer service manager.
Again, I am stupid about evo's and everything about them.
Are these analog or digital gauges and could adding this key mess up all of the stuff?
UPDATE Next day.......
Temp gauge mysteriously starts working, the temp had to be over 50 degrees C before, so I'll be watching this.
Also the oil pressure light is showing up when warm and idling (It looks like 8-900 RPM).
Any thoughts?
Thanks
