4ch install, bypassed factory Infinity, whines and crackles

4ch installed has crackles, whines, and pops. Pops when preset button and seek buttons are pressed. Turn the car to acc and a low wine is heard. Turn the volume up and the whine can be masked with radio audio. Turn the key to ign and the whines get louder, and a separate wine can be heard when what I think the fuel pump is priming. Start the car and alternator whine can be heard.

The car:
'03 with a AMS built '06 motor.

Electronics in the car I have seen so far:
-AEM Standalone
-HKS Turbo timer
-AEM Wideband
-AEM Boost
-SnoPro Meth injection pump, side of the trunk

Equipment installed:
-NEW Infinity (non OEM) components in the front
-NEW Alpine Type S rear
-NEW Orion XTR 4ch amp
-NEW Kinetik Racing battery(located in the rear)
-NEW Pioneer LCD Screen

How equipment was installed:
-Speakers in factory locations using speaker harnesses
-Factory Amp under driver’s seat bypassed, tone generator used to verify polarity and speaker location(Including tweeters)
-Orion Amp installed on trunk floor, left side on an amp rack about 18inches from the Kinetik battery installed in the middle of the spare tire well.
-SnoPro pump located on the right side of the spare tire well
-Power is 2.5 ft long and goes from amp to battery, ground is solid verified by DMM
-Power wire ran down passenger side
-RCA ran from the radio, down driver’s side
-Speaker wire ran down driver’s side from under the seat, to the Orion amp. Speaker connections are under the seat to the factory amp plug which has been disconnected from the amp completely.

What has been tested:
-First thought a bad radio ground. Found new ground with a DMM, no difference.
-Thought it could be the radio, changed to the pioneer, no difference
-Thought it could be bad RCA, so a brand new set were connected to the radio and ran outside the car to the amp in the back, no difference.
-Speaker wire/RCA are not close to any other wires or fuse boxes in the car, and what few places they do have to cross a power wire in the trunk, it is done at a 45 or 90 degree angle.

Not sure where I could be picking up this feedback from. Could there be another factory amp installed in the car somewhere? Suggestions on where/what else to check? I’m stumped.

Hey I use to install at circuit city I'm mecp certified and dude it sounds like you did everything right. Except I would have tried to run my own spkr wire instead of using the factory stuff its pretty easy to run only hard part is the front doors. On a side note sorry to break it to you but the pioneer lcds their pre out harness tend to be junk. That is most likely your problem the radio. And switching the harness won't help. If you try all of this and your still having probs switch the amp if you still hving probs start disconnecting the speakers one by one to see which one is causing the issue. GL

Do all Evos with the Infinity sound system have a 8" sub? If so, is there a separate amp or is it run by the one under the seat?

I too am MECP and would secnd the idea to run your own speaker wire. I think the other installer will agree with me on this: it's not hard, just time consuming.(interject cuss words everyther word.lol)

the stock amp under the drivers seat runs the sub and all the other speakers. in my car I have eclipse 5 channel amp that runs all my speakers and my subs, all after market, and i have a small wine noise when I put the key in or turn the key off before getting out of my car. the radio is off when it happens, I have just learned to live with it. it is crazy though, noises will drive you crazy!!! I agree with starting with your radio tho it is the most likely cause..

I've just had my mechanic try two different stereos in my car (IX, SSL).

a little constant whine while the stereo is on. unplug the AEM and it goes away. I just searched this entire form for "AEM whine" and this is the only thread that came up.

he says I should take it to an audio specialist. I was thinking maybe they could put a noise filter in the power line to the AEM.

any advice?

Turns out my problem was the preouts on the radio were bad.

Where is the AEM tapped in to power? Do both the AEM and stereo have good solid grounds? How is the stereo Installed/wired in?

installer says AEM is tapped into ignition whereas the radio is tapped into ACC.

I'm just gonna have to take it to crutchfield's installer, I think.

First and second things I'd check. FWIW, I have a UEGO and have run as many as four amplifiers in the car (at the same time). No noise, whatsoever.
