No power to radio and clock after trying to install a aftermarket deck.

Hello ,
I'm trying to install a pioneer deck into my '03 evo 8.
I use this link to help me wired up.

http://www.modifiedlife.com/2003-mit...-wiring-guide/

I thought this would be simple install, but it wasn't . I got the aftermarket harness
wired up and plug into the deck, turn on the key , but now power , push on the deck,
but still no power, not only the deck does not have power , but the clock was out and the key sensor sound was off.
I check all the fuse under the dash and the ones in the engine bay , all where fine.
I reconnect the stock harness and deck on , but no power nor clock and key sound.
not sure what happen.
Any clue to what happen?.

Did you check the fuse for the dome light... I believe it's in the box under the hood. Had a similar problem before and the dome light fuse was the cause, and I was completely confused because a ton of things stopped working all cause of that one like clock, radio, dome, key fob etc

the correct fuse is located under the hood, there are two fuses grouped together with a yellow sleeve around them I forget which one exactly...

yea i just had this happe to me. Was installing gauges and then i found out i had CD's propping up the CD player and had three harness spliced to hell. Once i took out my radio nothing worked anymore. Clock, radio, dome light, no power locks, and my trip meter resets everytime i start the car. the only time my power locks work is when i have the key turned all the way. so now i need to figure out where the hell to start from.

Blown fuse is all it could be, did you check to see if you might not be grounding right or the possiblity of any fray off any of the hot wires touching?

Could also be an incorrect wire which is causing the fuse to blow. When I bought my evo, the prev owner said tha the taillight kept blowing out for some reason along with a fuse. First thing i did was rewire the stereo and found the illumination (orange) was wired to the stereo's ground wire.

I have a guy that just got moved to the Install bay(he used to be the Tech Lead but never did installs before moving to another department). He did this the other day and swore up and down that I was playing some prank on him. After telling him to just check the fuses, he instead went and got a manager. Manager comes in with the "This isn't funny" look, and I had the blown fuse in my Hand.

as a mechanic, the general rules for "fix it yourself" electrical failures are:

1. check fuses: they are the easiest thing to spot and fix
2. check/track wires: making sure there are no frays, loose or disconnected wires, shorts or improperly connectioned wires in the wiring (especially grounds)
3. get professional help or someone with some experience to assist you
