<grin> Yea, the Sony is a little out of place. I do think that it's a very cool product, marque aside. There's a 4ch version, too, in the same form factor. These amps are very small. Having thought about this a little more, I'd really like to avoid having an amp in the glovebox. That's where I keep my logging notebook, so I might have to ditch the Ref200 after all. An Arc 4050XXK is the new candidate.

how much room we we actually have under the seats?
Beats me. I know there's more than enough room for a 8x10x3 enclosure. There's also more vertical space under the seat, itself. You should take a look, since you have some box building and fitting experience.

Is that the audio option that put 8" woofers under the seats?

If I recall correctly, even the lower model had the woofers under the seats. The Logic 7 system had an extra speaker in the center of the dash, uprated speakers all around, and a digital amplifier with double the power of the standard BMW Professional unit. Ridiculously good imaging and awesome sound for a factory unit.

Geezz that sounds nice. You know, I've had two lifelong interests: cars and driving, and music and audio. Never have I been able to combine the two successfully, but I really want to.

I think you are doing a good job with a nice audio system in a car like an Evo!
I share the same passions, though music a little less than before, because working in something is always liable to make you grow at least a little tired of it.

Footprint-wise, we have ~8x12 to work with. A larger amp can fit, but it would be seen with the door open.

I wasn't joking about having a box built. Let me know if you're interested. I called Earthquake this morning and they were no help at all. I have some feelers out to see how we can scale the mouth of the horn. If we can't figure it out, maybe just a simple, carpeted, sealed box.

First step toward a better system - picked up an Arc 4050XXK - 2 channels fro the fronts and two bridged for the sub. I'll keep updating the thread.

Ordered the driver for the underseat sub - an Earthquake SWS-8. It's the only 8" driver on the market that has a chance of working in an enclosure this small. Now I just need to find someone to build me an enclosure and to decide on speakers.
